Several people telling me the electronics on all Aston's are prone to issues. But I find the rapid ever beautiful

Do you really give much about what other people tell you?
"Several people" are obviously not Vanquish owners. Never heard of electronic problems. There can be issues, but electronics are minor as I've never heard or read about in the AMOC.
That "gearbox fault" issue doesn't matter, 9 of 10 are just digits, nothing serious.

Ross, sorry for the late reply, but I just saw this thread. I purchased a 2010 Rapide last year and really enjoy it. It is a great daily driver for me, but I purchased it from an Aston dealer with a 2-year Aston warranty. The warranty has come in handy for my only significant issue which was an electrical problem that eventually turned out to be a loose connection between the three computers that talk to each other. It resulted in every warning light coming on and the car going into limp home mode (locked in 3rd gear). It probably would have been an expensive fix to tear apart the car to find the loose connection.

What I like about the car is its feel while driving. It is a very solid vehicle that has the feel of the older Mercedes that felt as if they were cut out of a block of steel. It has a great feel in the corners and great brakes. I was sold on the exterior and interior styling, which is seductive, and then when you start the engine it makes all the best noises. (I remember one commentator noting that the reason the car starts up with such a roar in the morning is to remind the neighbors that they just don’t measure up.) The automatic transmission performs well in sports mode as do the paddles. There are now many other sedans, including those from Porsche, Audi and Mercedes that are faster, but I prefer the feel of the Aston. You also won’t see another one on every block.

The downsides of the car include a significant loss in value if you buy new, which I did not. Its switchgear and accessory controls are cryptic at best. The GPS system has progressed over the years and my 2010’s GPS is pathetic. There is also no backup camera in the 2010, which I believe was also added in the later vehicles. The back seats will hold adults in a pinch, but unless the front seat passengers are short in stature, the rear passengers will not have much legroom.

Pictures can be found at Rapide and 512TR
