Just reading the FIA regs about the requirements to get an F1 license. Does anyone here have one?
they granted mine and then took it when the realized that my feet were sticking out of the tub chasis
I think Ryan wants to crank something up on his photoshop with an existing FIA superlicense as the base ingredient
You're probably right - I was thinking that the Corse Clienti people might have to get one to participate in their events... probably not. Then again, there is the provision about being let in after 300km of driving in under 2 days, this could be the catchall that lets them in.
Trust me the Corse Clienti wouldn't even muster a response from the FIA. To get an FIA Super License you have to meet strict racing requirements that stem from the lower formula's (F3/F3000/FRenault/etc.) Remember when they weren't going to give Kimi R. one ? JK
Andreas, I highly doubt it. In years past you had to win a nationally recognized F3 series to graduate to a superlicense. Now it's an entirely subjective decision by the FIA. Read here about Riakkonen: http://experts.about.com/q/Auto-Racing-1609/Super-license-requirments.htm
In years gone by the WINNER of either the British, French, German or Japanese F3 championships could get an F1 Super Licence (thats how Hakkinen got there). Everyone else had to race "succesfully" in F3000 or another series that the FIA recognised (F.Nippon, IndyCars etc). Then, unless you had won the championship or a few races, the FIA would only 'consider' your application. Raikonen and Rossi have only got in as extremely rare special cases, particularly in Raikonen's case. Basically to get an F1 Superlicence you need to be an experienced professional racing driver. Just owning an FXX or doing Clienti courses in no way will prepare anyone for racing - that comes with experience. I helped train an owner of a Schumacher F1 car, who has a competition licence, but he would be the first to admit that he is completely under qualified for an FIA F1 licence. Having said all that, with the present state of the FIA, I imagine a large enough cheque will open doors.
