    Either black/black or diamond silver/black. :D

Thanks! I'll look into the possibility of an SUV for the winter.

If you actually plan to use the SL55 as your all weather car, I recommend not upgrading the wheels or at least get a dedicated set of winter wheels and rubber otherwise with the larger wheels, you will end up spinning or loosing traction once the temprature starts to drop to around 45F.

Nice colors, but a black interior is painful in the hot sun.

I agree with a couple other posts - if you get 19 or 20 inch rims, keep a set of the 18s with dedicated winter rubber on them. I used my 355 last winter with new Pirellis P-Zeros, and the summer rubber bubbled in a couple places from very minor potholes due to the cold temperatures (had to get 4 new tires in the early spring).

Best of luck, the SL55 is a sweet car ;)

I just ordered a 2007 E63 from my local Mercedes dealer. This is going to be my daily driver. The SL is a fine car but I wanted a bit more practicality for a commuter car...assuming that you can classify a 507 hp AMG as "practical" :D

By the way, I test-drove the CTS-V, I was unimpressed. Cadillac has come a very long way but, unfortunately, it still has a long way to go to match the AMG Mercedes or the BMW M-cars, I think.

The SL55 and the XLR-V shouldn't even be said in the same breath. The SL55 is one of the best driving cars around. Period. The SL55 is way better looking then the XLR. The edgy look does nothing for me or the resale of that car. I've driven both. They are both fast. That's where the "equal" part ends. The Caddilac is all plastic. Its a Vette. If you haven't driven the SL55, Do so. I would buy a two year old SL55 before buying a new XLR-V. The XLR-V will be a footnote in Caddilac history with the Allante. A car with a great engine that just was plain boring. If they want a hit, they should produce the "16". That may have a chance.

Gary I am with you, but it is a shame Cadillac is trying but just falling short. To even bring up resale is another serious problem. Look at what used CTS-V's are changing hands for around 30k! The M3 was holding its value far longer then the CTS (M3 being redesigned for next year). When they get around 25$k I will seriously think about picking one up. Already New XLR's can be had for $5-10k off sticker my dad got $5k off and bought it in March. The price will only continue to drop as invoice is mid 80's on the car IIRC. They are sitting on dealer lots where SL 55's are still selling 4 years after the 55 even came out. Alright I am done with my ranting, but just pissed Cadillac can't make a car that is world class anymore! Now my dad's 1978 eldorado biarittz(sp) with 1000 miles is perfect(two tone limited edition), and almost worth now the $18k it cost new maybe some day it will appreciate ;)

When I graduated H.S, the year was 1981. My friends father gave him a 1979 Caddilac Coupe d'Elegance (that was the fathers car) as a graduation present. That was the one with the two tone paint job, Black and Silver and the pillow seats (burgundy). In its day that car made a statement. It had a 429 if I remember correctly. It was the last of the great caddilacs. Mushy ride. Felt like you were in someones living room. They didn't have any competition back then. They never saw the change coming. Everyone beat them at their own game. They lost. Audi came out with the 5000S, Mercedes with the 500 SEL and BMW with the 745. By the 80's Caddilac was too far gone. Downsizing made them a laughing stock in the industry. That was 26 years ago! Sad. I'd by a Chrysler 300 SRT Hemi before I'd buy anything from Caddilac. Though I'd wish they changed. Isn't that why they hired Bob Lutz? The new Sedan Deville or what ever they call it looks like an 80's Chrysler New Yorker.

By the way, my friend still has that Caddilac.

    1. Cadillac has not made any world class cars in my oppinion untill recently.
    2. The SL55 is a great car no doubt about it, believe me I know my Mother has a CL65.
    3. The simple fact that I am stating is that I think a SL55 AMG is a impractical car for a NYC commuter especially with the winter season coming, nothing more nothing less. Buy a used Bentley GT its all wheel drive at least.

I am done with this thread!

Again good luck with what ever you choose.

    PEACE
