Or what kind of fastener it is? Hmmm [emoji848] Thank you guys. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Both acorn nuts need to be removed…take off each side engine covers first. That back panel should then pull off by bending each side so that the panel clears each of the horizontally positioned screws. I also picked my entire set {same as the F8 design} at MyRicambi. I cut into place more insulation as the extreme heat over time can discolor the CF. I was not comfortable with the thin insulation that came with the engine covers.
Ah thanks man and I just figured it out too- there’s a 5/16 nut on the passenger side and just took it off.. drivers didn’t seem to have to do anything. I did drop one of the little Torx bits down somewhere and can’t find it, even with a pole magnet — ugh.. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Interesting about the insulation— I’m gonna just install as they are and hope I guess. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Hmmm. Pealing off the original seals/rubbers to stick on to the carbon ones doesn’t seem to be as easy as I was told- sh*t, I hope I didn’t have to buy the new ones Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I dropped one of the acorn nuts also lol. I reused the original seals; Once the side panels buttress against the engine bay frame, they snug up nicely.
I wonder where my torx bit went? It didn’t make a lot of noises- like it went click and that’s it— I’ll gosh around some more before I put the panels back on but hopefully it wont hurt anything. And ya, I just put some 3M tape along new ones and re-applied the seals to the carbon panels. Done and they’re ready to go back in. Certain order? Side first or back is prob ok? Thanks for the help and support bud Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Son of a B*tch!!!! I just spent hours removing and redoing seals (and fishing for torx bit and a washer) and go to put them on and— they aren’t the right f’ing ones! Now what the hell do I do? So mad.. gotta wait months again for them to be made? Can I drive car like this without panels? So upset. Where did you get them ? That sucks and yes you can drive without them... just keep it out of the rain..
I’m really hoping he got multiple sets in and just gave me the wrong ones (perhaps for 488) as he said F8 and Pista are the same but 488 is diff. Will see when he responds in the morning Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Surprised they screwed up…..Denis doubled checked mine and unpacked to check for flaws ect. They should be able to fly in a set by fedex. If you drive it without the covers open the bonnet when you park it.
I’d reinstall the trim panels, if for no other reason to allay any concerns regarding the effect of excessive direct heat on the Lexan. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Seems like you got the wrong part. I got mine from SRM Autosports You can spot the differences in both parts Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ya def wrong part. Denis said he’ll call me this morning. We will see if there is a resolve. I’m still dying to know why I should open the bonnet if I have to drive it when I park it. Maybe he means to open the engine cover. Denis did say once the carbon is installed to pop the cover when I park to let the heat out more to help preserve the carbon from discoloring. I don’t see anything under the covers that is going to make more heat on the lexan. It’s not like the covers are there to absorb the exhaust heat, they’re just there to cover wires, hoses and things to neaten things up. And lexan can handle it, I’m sure. It looks kinda cool without them I guess- just wish I could find that Torx bit tip thing I dropped in there…. Yes I meant rear hatch….Denis will tell you also that to preserve the integrity of the CF color leaving the rear hatch/cover open after a hard drive is recommended.
