That sounds similar to the problem I had with my 458. It first happened on the passenger side, then the drivers side about a year or two later.
It was apparently the pinch weld in the a-pillar that let loose, and I was hearing a clicking/creaking noise over bumps, and while accelerating or decelerating.
I found it by driving around while my wife used a stethoscope on the A-pillar, and it was obvious that it was from that area. My local dealer fixed it by removing the A-pillar trim, and put in some low strength expanding foam inside the metal pillar. That silenced it perfectly, and lasted up until I sold the car 4 or 5 years later.
Here is a video of the sound. It wasn't my actual car, but it was the same noise in another person's car that I helped out. It seems that it's a fairly common problem. It drove me bonkers! I almost sold the car because of it.

Yikes, sounds like someone shaking a can of spray paint…. Or is this a joke and that’s actually what it is?

It sounds exactly like my issue. Can you look at my video where im recreating the sound by touching the dashboard to see if it's the same issue as yours.

How much did it cost to fix? Last time I took it to the dealer they said it would be an expensive fix and just to live with it.

Mine was not able to be recreated by touching anything. If you can recreate it, you may have a different problem, but I'm not sure.

My cost wasn't straight forward. There were other factors. Let's just say I got it for free. But, they worked on it for a few days to take it apart, locate, and fix. The second time, since we knew the problem, and how to fix it, it was done in a few hours. So, if they charged me, it probably would have been about $800 - $1,000 if I had to guess.
