I was watching "Ray" the movie about Ray Charles and it occured to me, how do blind people tell what time it is. Do they have special watches or something. I'm not making fun of blind people. I'm just curious.

There are watches that audibly tell the time by pressing a button.

I read some time ago (no pun intended) that there are watches made that were open faced, so you could feel the time.

    P/S without a doubt!
The mic would have been on a stand for a start and even if it was dropped you can still feel which way round it is. I could play an entire set on drums with my eyes closed!

Did you hear Stevie Wonder is on the Micheal Jackson witness list.

"So Mr. Wonder, you're saying you never actually SAW Micheal with any children?"

Did you hear what Stevie Wonder said when he picked up a cheese grater?

'That's the most violent book I've ever read!'

Before the electronic age, there were watches with Braille faces (and flip open bezels).

Pick up a copy of John Wyndham's "Day of the Triffids" (the book, not the '63 Hollyweird film) sometime. There was a passable 1981 BBC miniseries made from it, but even that didn't really capture the book.

Ok..So I just watched Ray again this weekend, and he does use one of those watches. It is right before his wife finds his shaving kit IIRC.

Dave, there was no intent on a joke...

Here is a sign on the door of my gym. Please note two things:

    1. Braille at the bottom
    2. Door opens inwards

BTW, I really should not be making pics with my camera phone in the gym, but it was the weekend and not a soul was around.

Not to change the subject too much but a friend of mine who used to work for me is blind. He used to own an independent auto repair service, and he was the mechanic. He could rebuild anything from 911 engines to 4x4 transfer cases. Amazing what he can do, I think of him everytime I'm complaining because I just dropped a bolt under the car and can't find it.
