just wondering if anyone here knew this car. seems like alot of forum users from texas... any history would be great. it says in history it was a lease or rental vehicle? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-Ferrari-348-Spider-5-Speed-30k-Service-Just-DONE_W0QQitemZ290353526188QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item439a6b35ac&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 thanks to all in advance
I've been looking at that one with some interest as well, mainly because if it is sound, it could be a good buy, though it would take some $$ to put it in the condition I would want. I have to say, though, and I may be wrong for thinking this way...that car scares me. I suppose it could be a good buy at that price, properly discounted for all of the unoriginal bits (those wheels and the intake mod have to go. Also, if they really dumped 12.5K into the major, I guess there are a lot of new parts in there, maybe a new clutch along with the belts and bearings and such?? BUT, I just get the feeling that someone rode this sucker hard and put it away wet, and I worry about things like the gearbox, differential, etc. Again, I could be completely wrong, but...after a few years in the auto auction business, I can say that sometimes it actually does pay to ignore first grade morality and judge a book by the cover. I don't mean to offend if this car belonged to anyone here. Like I said, I could be wrong...
If this is the same one I saw about 1 month ago, then I was told this car has been for sale for a couple of years with no takers.
i too was curious of its origins and this is why i asked here. i dont mind the aftermarket wheels as i would powder coat them black or the seats as i would simply recover in a high grade leather even the intake doesnt bother me. i also wonder about how much and how "recent" the service was done. i asked for a date on the service and recieved no reply as of yet?? odd in my opinion that they did reply that it had been done recently? so what is recently? a year a month 3 years????
The interior colours are a bit... bright. And the wheels look like a drug dealer or pimp chose them. I'd really love to own a 348 one day, but I'm afraid it won't be this one. I imagine it'd need a fair bit of work/investment to restore it to a less embarrassing condition. All the best, Andrew.
