Thanks for the info. How long was Ferrari covering guide problems on F355's? I would have assumed by 2005 any and all warranties would have lapsed.

Usually not past Warranty at all, but it was covered under "Goodwill" which has so many complexities behind the scenes one never knows how it was approved. A lot of screaming had to happen and I have suspicions it was ONLY because it was on a special model and so far past when they thought it would show up. Quite sure we lost or had to eat other Warranty work to make up for it though.

And Bob's post pretty much sums up the scenarios. Well said.

I don't know. I was trying to get some info from the seller and he told me. I don't know about recent services or anything other than what the ad says. One owner , 6400 miles. Ask was $64.

Sounds like the '95 is calling your name... I kid.

I do not know what causes the noise. I'm sure someone will chime in with an answer soon.

There is nothing left of the steering wheel f1 or mechanically related. Is the radio off? I'm thinking whine from an audio issue with the tweeter behind the left air vent.

The only thing left of the steering wheel are two relays behind the carpet. One is a speaker relay for the blinkers...I think...I'd go look but my car is at Motion Products and not in the garage :(

Could it be a wheel bearing?

None-the-less, it sounds like an issue the seller should have noticed & corrected before you showed up.

The 95 needed a lot of attention. Stickies, top didn't work, dirty interior. Not impressed with the car.

Oh just having fun. What else could it be?

I hope Gobble gets a good one at a great price. He certainly is serious about it.

Note from Jon and Andy - my mechanics.

"If it has aftermarket radio, sometimes you'll hear a whine through the speakers depending on how the guys installed the system."

Have been tied up at the dealer and just leaving. I have the contracts but not signed pending the stereo being fixed. Here's the build number.

So how much to fix sticky window buttons and all the vents? Everything else looks ok. I'd like to get the radio back to stock if that's possible.

The car is in excellent shape and appears to be past the magic valve guide number. Driving a 355 is definitely different than a 360. It has such a simple raw feel.

Excited for you! Stickies are no big fix.

Radio comes up on occasion here and ebay.

Enjoy it and do not worry.

Not so sure an OEM radio is all that great. I swapped in a nice Alpine Bluetooth radio in my car...but I pulled a really crappy aftermarket one out.

The original radio is nice, and if you find one great...but modern audio conveniences are nice too.

    Having fun yet???? :)

I understand you're looking at two different 355s here in California. To which serial number does that assembly number correspond? Is it 111913 at Smith Motorgroup or 103059 at DC Motors? I already have 103059 as having assembly number 19983, so this 29040 must match 111913. Can you confirm?

29040 matches 111913 at Smith Motor Group.

I really want it but I'm afraid of this car guys. I called a shop that had done some maintenance on the car and they confirmed that it was a very well maintained car, but the guy said why would you want a 355? I told him I think there's upside and his reaction was you'll spend $500k maintaining the car during the 20 years it will take to significantly appreciate in value. He said buy a 360 (which I don't want again). Nothing new but it just put a thought in my head what am I doing out here and do I really need my wife driving an exotic when there's already a Lambo in the garage.

Also, if I'm at $54 on this car. Add $1600 for shipping, maybe $1000 for stickies, $300 for new front pads, $6000 for the belt service, $3000 for sales tax and I'm at $66,000. Is this car with over 20,000 miles really worth that? I sold a flawless 2000 red/tan 360 with 18k for $72k.
