Hello all, I'm looking to purchase my first Ferrari and this one really caught my eye. Does anyone happen to know the car? As far as pricing, does it seem fair? If not, what should I offer? What questions should I ask the dealer when calling about it? Thanks all!

    Dear David,

    In my opinion, prime example of 04 360 Spider can fetch close to ~ 100k. This price is reserved for;

    1) Less than 10k miles.
    2) Rosso Corsa Color, in mint condition.
    3) Full Service + >80% Clutch life + Good thread life on tires.
    4) No mods or tasteful (reversible) mods.
    5) Options like Challenge Grill, Shields.
    6) Other factors.

    In this example,
    1) Nero is not the most desirable color, and typical ~4-5 k less than Rosso Corsa.
    2) 15,000 miles means 5000 x 0.8 ~ 4k less than reference.
    3) Capristo exhaust is desriable, but not sure of those wheels. So, I would subtract ~1-2k.
    4) The leather on the dashboard has shrunk. Fixing it cost's ~3k.
    5) Doesn't mention when the clutch was changed nor if the last major was a recent or not or about the tires.
    6) I could be wrong, but seems like there are some scratches on the front bumper.

Hence, I would put the price of the car around ~ 78k $, if PPI doesn't throw any serious problems. Having said that, I see some Carbon Fiber upgrades, if you are into those things, then even though they won't increase the value of the car but they do cost a lot of money if you plan to do it yourself.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Mallick

    David,

I live close by and would be happy to give it a look if you are seriously thinking about it. I am hardly an expert as I just bought my 2003 f1 Spider 2 months ago, but happy to help if I can.

Thanks guys! Still trying to decide which route to take, I like the initial look of that car, but before I get serious about it I inquired with the seller about the server history. We'll see what he says. Thanks!

Here's my opinion on modifications - YMMV

I would much rather buy a stock car and the buy the mods myself because I can do exactly what I want to do. Then, I will also have all the stock parts and as mentioned above be able to easily reverse said mods in the event of needing to sell.

There's also the camp that will say if you're going to mod a car to buy it already done because of the discount you can obtain upfront but I would rather do exactly what I want and know there was no ulterior motive in modifying.

I think it is priced pretty well but do not see any information about service condition so I am assuming that it needs nothing. This is a big assumption that needs a thorough check. I see bubbles on the passenger airbag so you will need to watch the rest of the leather. The Gruppe M airbox is a 5K upgrade and is very nice. You will want your PPI to remove and inspect the cone filters that are inside with photographs of how clean they are. They are K&N filters that require cleaning and maintenance and that will be a good indicator as to how the previous owners cared for the car. Also check for any interference between the capristo and the grouppeM heat shield. Mine were interfering when I bought my car and it took quite a bit of work to get them to to not touch each other. When the car is hot and the exhaust expands a little there is about 1/2 inch clearance between but when cold it is like 1/8 or so now.
