Good morning everyone, I am going to look at #3666 next week and was wondering if anyone has any experience or knows of this vehicle? Thanks you in advance for your input. Jamie
Unfortunately I haven`t got anything more regarding the history past 1982... Please let us know what you can find out. Regards Matthias
3666 will be on it's way to it's new home early next week. We received a fair amount of documentation with the vehicle and I will sort through in the next month or so and put it in chronological order, after which I will update the registry. One item to be mentioned, Stuart of Copley Motorcars located in Needham, Mass, is a real gentleman and a delight to work with. He is not your 'typical' car dealer in any respect. He had the car ready for us to look at, left us with the keys and told us to come and get him if and when we had some questions. He arranged for us to put it in the air for an inspection underneath and then gave us one of his dealer plates and told us to drive it for awhile!! The deal was sealed with a handshake and we where back to the Boston airport in time to make our flight home. The car was accurately represented with no surprises. I would highly recommend Stuart and his business. And no I did not get a discount for giving a plug *lol* Jamie
It arrived today and I will take better pictures in the next couple of days. Question- what size wiper blades should be on it? When I adjust them the passenger side interferes with the drivers side blade. Any thoughts? Thanks Jamie Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Jamie, Congratulations on your new machine. 'looking good! I have the same 'clapping hands' system on my Euro Tipo E. My wiper arms are the original "arman&C" units with (I believe to be correct for my car) 13" blades. Your blades look to be a bit longer(?), but that may be correct for a USA car. I don't know if this is the proper procedure, but I resolved the infamous interference problem by adjusting the passenger side arm so that the blade is tangent to the windshield gasket, at rest. That places the blades parallel to each other, with a gap of about 4" between them. Though your pax side appears to be the culprit, you may even be able to bring the driver's side down a bit once the other is lowered (and the blades shortened?). Oh yeah, be sure and put some water on your blades & glass while you are operating the wipers. Go here to read about this very issue, and to see pictures of my car and Jimmy K. Chen Shiba's car. dm_n_stuff mentions that there is a tech bulletin on this, too. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215046&highlight=wiper+blades Keep us posted; 'looking forward to more pics. Cheers, Coop
well done Jamie, do you have any further ownership history for #03666 from 1982 until today? Regards Matthias
Coop- Thanks, the blades installed are 18" which really appear to be too long it looks as though 15" would be better suited. I will have alook at the bulletin and post my findings. Mathias - I will go through the package on Thursday will send you what I can glean from the info that we got. We are very excited as this is the car that my business partner and I have dreamed about since we where teenagers. Kind of bizarre though since we only met 16 years ago and have been business partners for 6 years. The only problem I forsee is 1 Dino and 2 of us....
Jamie congrats on your Dino purchase! The Dino was very popular up here when they were new with quite a few being sold. I remember Yonge Steeles Motors in Willowdale had their last 'pre-smog' Dino about 1972? It was a white 246 GT coupe. Sat for quite a while back then at the dealer. Not sure where that white coupe ended up. Good Luck with your new ride! CH
Thanks, I do remember seeing a couple when I was a young teenager growing up in Port Credit although not many. I do recall a number of Lotus Europa`s though.
here's your tech bulletin!! unfortunately, I don't think it has the specs for clapper style wipers. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks, Dave. As always, the bulletins are an interesting read. My 13" blades cover sufficient area, should I find myself cruisin' in the rain. This size simplifies the clearance problem with the clapping hands system. Coop
