    The car looks super.

For what its worth... I have heard of Marshall Goldman for years. Always good. I have car pals who have bought several cars in a row from them in the past.

I like the price on this Mondial T. It looks like its nice enough to bring it too.

Prefering the Valeo transmission puts you in the minority. Not that theres anything wrong with that. I would offer much less than the Buy it now price. Dont let them know you prefer the Valeo transmission.

Thanks Michael. I agree, the car looks good (looks can be deceiving, though). Lets see where this takes us.

Dave, I've agonized over the Valeo thing. 1993 only comes this way (I think). I checked with Norwood Performance in Dallas, and they did not have anything adverse to say about the Valeo. I also don't know of anyone who has had problems with the Valeo. Your point, though, is well taken. Seems to cost between $5K-$10K to replace if busted !

Hey Moyez, I live about 30 mins from Marshall Goldman and I have been in there several times to look at F-cars for F-chatters. I went there last night late to see what they in the showroom. They were closed and the Mondial was way in the back so I could not give you any info on the car right now. In my experience, the cars that they get are top shelf cosmetically. I'm no Ferrari mechanic and I have never driven anything that they have but they all appear to be a very high quality. If you would like I can go see it for you and take pics but I can't really tell you when because of my schedule. The salesman that I always talk to is Alan Sivik. Nice guy and doesn't shoo me out even though I am not buying myself anytime soon. Let me know and I will see what I can do.

Can someone who has driven one explain exactly how the valeo works? I know there is no clutch pedal, but it has a standard shifter. I guess my big question is, how does the car know when you are going to shift and thus know when to engage the clutch? Is it just from the movement of the shifter itself? And does it vary the speed of the of clutch engagement/disengagement based on how fast you yank the shifter or how far you press the gas pedal?

And how does its performance compare with a standard transmission?

Interestingly, the same car was listed on eBay on 7 January and ended 14 January as a no sale - bid was 50,100 and reserve was not met. With 13 hours remaining on the re-list it's only at $32,199. Repeat??

5 hours left on eBay and still at $32,199 - no mention of any service ever being done on the car - cruise control??

To my understanding (Hank Sound is your man on this for answers), when you pull the shifter, the car activates the clutch for you. It was the 1st example of the now popular F1 style transmission. No paddle shifters, but still an actual clutch activated by the machine.

I have heard they perform just like a manual, but better in stop & go traffic.

Its not a negitive for sure, its a neat option.

Moyez is right: looks can be deceiving. Looking at the front of the car I see a little too much space on the right hand side where the bumper meets the rest of the body. Did it take a little hit? The ad does not say anything about the paint being original, which is something sellers like to brag about if it is the case. A bad car with a Valeo clutch would still be a bad car. For the money he is asking I am expecting an immaculate car that just had the engine taken out, its valves adjusted and cleaned, all belts, seals and tension bearings replaced. I found no mention of that in the ad. I'm sorry to be so negative, but I have come accross so many poorly maintained Mondials when I was shopping for one. Especially dealers were not up-front about the true vehicle condition. You NEED to see the car in person.

Good luck, because if the car is as good as the ad, it would be a GREAT car.

I emailed the dealer with a request for info. He does NOT think that a major service has been done. Nor would he put me in touch with the previous owner. My request for the ferrari dealer was met with a similar negative response. All denials are probably justifiable, but I think that the next step is probably to have a PPI done. However, we are WAY apart on price. Last sale of this type of car on ebay was at $40K. He wants $53K. And the other car had a recent major svc done!

    Hi Carol,
how's your mondial t. Are you happy with it? I saw it at Norwood (I think) a couple of months back. What a cool car. I think I like the hard-top as well. Moyez.

53k + 6k for 30k = Barrett-Jackson pricing! Put the phone down, unless you must have a 93 Valeo cab.
There is a white 91 coupe in Ferrari-Ads for 42k U.S in Canada. I think bringing that in to the U.S is just as simple as changing speedo to MPH. By 1991, standards for Canada are very similiar to USA DOT/EPA specs.
Not sure if that does it for you, but you would have the only 91 coupe in the US i believe.
    Anyways best of luck...

Dave, I saw the ad. I like it, but sounds complicated for a newbie like me. But I do agree about MUST HAVE for Valeo. I may end up backing off the Valeo.

    Moyez,

    My 02.

If the car is what you want, then the the price is reasonable. I searched for my mondial t for years....MANY years! ('91 w/3000 orig miles) and I can tell you that when you find exactly what you want, you should grab it.

But like others have said, you must go look at it in person, because we all know F cars photograph well!

I remember looking at a lot of pictures, only to be disapointed when I saw the cars in person. I am picky-no doubt, but if you are going to pay top dollar then the car should be top notch.

IMHO 54k is not that wild if the car is in perfect condition and what you want. Finding an immaculate Mondial is like finding a needle in a haystack.

    Good luck with your search!

    Fyrrari

    Hi Moyez -

Sophia was at Norwoods recently for a little preventive maintenance. Thanks for the comment on her - she's definitely a very special member of the family. Extremely pleased with her.

I read one of your earlier posts about the lack of availability of information. We got all documentation (all service records, books, copy of original bill of sale, etc.) - we're the second owners and purchased her from the original selling Ferrari dealer.

Good luck on your search. The Mondial t coupes very rarely appear for sale.

    Carol
