    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows what this wire is supposed to connect to on a 1979 512BB? I attached a photo of it. It's on top of the motor to the left of the coolant tank. Not sure if it's a test wire or not?
    Thanks!

    Good day,

It is tough to see from your picture, but it could be the connection to the fast idle solenoid wiring (the red wire) located on the bottom of your picture.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Thanks for the responses. I agree, it is an old wire to the solenoid, that must have shorted out, and has been bypassed.
