Does buying a ferrari from a non-authorized dealer void out the ferrari warranty?

My understanding is that the Ferrari factory warranty goes with the car in accordance with the purchase contract. It should be transferable to you.

However, exceptions exist. For example, new Hyundais have 2 factory warranties. The 5 year - 60K mile bumper to bumper warranty is transferable to new owner. The 10 year, 100K mile warranty is not transferable.

 

Call your local Ferrari dealer and ask them.
You might want the vin before you call.

2013 or no. Go over that car with the proverbial fine tooth comb and make sure everything is there from the owner's manual to the keys and delivery info. Run that VIN every which way but loose and then do a PPI. There is usually a reason a non-dealer has a car and most are not pleasant.

 

The dealer is correct, the warranty is valid. The warranty comes with the vehicle, not with who sells the car. The only exception (at times) is a CPO (Certified Pre Owned) Factory Warranty - on certain manufacturers these are not transferrable. But it sounds like this Cali should have the balance of the factory warranty including the 7 year maintenance and it will most certainly be valid. Good luck with whatever you decide.

 

The car is warrantied by FNA and it goes with the car. What I would make sure of is that the car has the original warranty book with the car. I have bought several Ferraris that were under warranty, but without the book..... the dealer/FNA tried to weasel out.

 

Well get the vin and call your closest ferrari dealer and ask them, they will know if it still has a warranty if it's transferable and so on.

 

Interesting post since BMW has just implemented this policy for their CPO cars, retroactive based on the build date. Any CPO car bought in 2014 and on now has a 2-year, 50000 mile CPO extended warranty, down from 7 years and 50000 miles. Yes it is retroactive and it is not transferable, not even for a fee (such as Porsche's was when I bought mine). It's a convoluted warranty anyway. Electronics are exempted from CPO (that's starting Year 5 through 6). If you buy the CPO car from someone who bought it from BMW in 2014, the CPO warranty goes away. I know of one dealership that offers a different extended warranty that is transferable and does cover the electronics. I would look into that for my next used BMW purchase. Given the electronics, turbos and high pressure fuel system, it would be crazy to not have a 6 or 7 year warranty on the car.
