My hypothesis is Ferrari understands their buying demographics well so they deliberately inflated the performance of the two seaters to create some "marketing space" for the 2+2 cars. Seriously, how is the guy who puts down $100K+ for a F355 going to feel when a clunky 2+2 goes just as fast between stop lights and on the open highway (straights) just pull away?

A few years ago I had a humbling experience with my Lotus TTV8 vs. a 365 GTC4. On Hwy 17 to Sedona, I was fender-to-fender, side-by-side up to 150 MPH with no clear winner insight. Fortunately (unfortunately) we ran out of Hwy. before we had to let off the gas. I'm in this ultra light rocket with 8 turbo charged cylinders and this guy with a then stock 26-year-old 12 cylinder 2+2 Ferrari is locked on me like sticky pasta.

OK, time to come clean…I own a 456GT and to me it has the looks and performance that can’t be beat for every day or weekend urban cruising. Never want to debate the 456GT vs. the V8’s in the twisty’s, but 0 to 60 , 30 to 80 or 50 to 120...That's another story

Too bad the dealers don’t sell the car that well, but there is a small and growing group of us owners who know what a great car the 456 is and so it’s just a matter of time before the depreciation slide stops and the prices hopefully go up.

You are absolutely right about the 456! It is a phenomenal car. I don't plan on ever selling mine.

Although, to be honest (and unemotional), the 456 will end up as a $50k car.
