    so if i lose power my house runs off the generator. here in the NE cable goes down way more than we lose power, so my question is does FIOS also go down? they say its all fiber optics underground so in theory it shldnt, is that correct?

    Sure it can go down if the Head End goes down. Most have generator power though. Of course if the facility is eight feet under water, the generator wouldn't help much.

    fair enough. aside from that fios doesnt go down like cablevision for the obvious fact that the wires arent above ground. is that fair?

    If you compare it that way, I guess you're somewhat right. Where I have lived, they are both underground.
