I always wondered if you Ferrari / Lamborghini owners got loaners from FOW. At BMW of Fairfax, they give out 3Series, and HBL of Tysons, they are even more generous they give out SLKs, E-Classes etc... I always wondered what a Ferrari dealership would give as loaners or do you just wait until the car is done?

I'm not aware of loaners on the Ferrari side but they were always good about coming and picking the car up in their cool truck. Most F car owners have more than 1 car so it does not seem necessary to have a loaner, but Maser people might not see it that way.

Why, loaners are for people who have to drive to their dealership. FoW picks up and delivers cars.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Oh that's pretty cool, I guess if they do pick up and delivery no need for loaner. Thing with loaner is, my M3 is my Daily Driver so I need it. But I guess if you drive an Exotic, you probably have another car in the garage anyway. How about turn around on the service? How long do they keep your cars usually? Week?

They did pick up my car. The major took ten weeks. When I went to pick it up, the driver's seat was torn and scuffed up, the rear view mirror was on the passenger seat, and it was out of gas. So much for quick, reliable service.

Never had a loaner from FOW, but they've been creative over the years working with me to drop off & pick up a car for service.
I've done a variety of things, such as drop off my Ferrari for service and catch a ride with one of their workers to my work or home.
For pick up, I'll sometimes leave my daily driver in their parking lot, drive the Ferrari home, and later that evening get a ride back to FOW to pick up my daily driver.

FOW has offered to do pick-up & delivery, but it has always been fairly easy for me to get my car there (I live and work less than 20 minutes from FOW).

Now, if I could choose a loaner, I'm thinking an LP-560-4 would be perfect. :)

FOW has been very accomodating as to drop off and providing rides. But, I think new policy - was just quoted $120 for delivery to my home.

You bought so many cars there that I thought when you had a problem you just traded them in!

    Sorry, I couldn't resist!!!

I had FMoW pickup my TR a few years ago when I had the Brembo F-40 brakes installed on the car. The driver stuffed the brake kit boxes against the car causing two dents and paint abrasion/scratches They returned the car damaged, but later had the repairs made, so I was w/o car for quite awhile. No biggie, I have other cars to drive. I didn'r rant or rave and they made it right.

I'm not sure how many others have had similar problems w/pick-up & delivery service, but I now use another shop that has a reliable pick-up/delivery service and great mechanics who used to work at the dealer.

PM me privately if you want the name of the shop.

I dropped off my 308 at Competizione, and they gave me an Enzo for the weekend. What does FoW do again?

Update: I had an appointment for service on my Maserati a few weeks ago. Showed up with car on appointed day and was turned away. Called back two weeks ago to make an appointment and was turned away. Called back yesterday at 1pm to make an appointment, left a message. Still waiting by the phone for a callback. I'm giving them one more chance and will call and speak with the GM when they open this morning. The only reason I've gone this far, is that they are very close to my house. I've about had it with these incompetent people!

Humm, I called and made an appointment for VA state inspection and emissions no problems. However, a new guy answered the phone, can't remember his name (Peter?), but he seemed VERY disinterested in anything I had to say. I will reserve final judgement for the day I go over for the appointment. It was just weird, usually people are more friendly, especially the first time you chat with someone. Not cutting them down, just relating my recent experience.

I just called and talked to Bill Story. He told me that they were not yet certified to do VA state inspections. I relayed the problems I've had with FOW. He had Peterman call me back and I'm taking the Ferrari in at noon for them to repair the things I was charged for last fall that weren't repaired. I'll post an update later next week if and when I get it back. They had the car for ten weeks last time.

From my talk with one of their tech/emissions guy, the final paperwork has not gone through for transfer of ownership. Its almost like the dealership is in limbo and can only perform certain activities for the time being.

As to the original question: I bough a new 2004 Maser from FoW. When I brought it in, they paid for an enterprise rental (located at BMW Sterling).

I had just had my first service done with the new FoW. Peterson is pretty good if you give him a chance. The job was done when they said it would be and came in under-estimate (I had new brakes and battery).

I admit was pretty hostile at first and I explained that I felt the transition was handled poorly and I had a long standing history dialog with people (Brian). Peterson said he understood but wanted to move forward and start a new (really what else could he say).

    Best,
    dsd

HUH!!!!??? So Peterson scheduled me for an emissions and VA state inspection on Monday 3-30-09 and they don't have the ability to perform the work?? What the heck! More things change the more they stay the same!

Trying to have an open mind!

They have never done emissions and inspections onsite. They will, however, take it to the Nissan Dealer and get it down without issues (ie with an FCar guy present). I am usually charged a 1/2 hour of labor as a convenience fee.

amazing what people will put up with. specially when they are in the driver's seat because it is their money. I understand some of you have ulterior motives to put up with this crap, but still. If i am even perceived as having done the slightest thing wrong, my clients high tail it to the competizione :). Maybe some of you are enabling bad behavior? Snowing here in whistler... got to go.

    DSD,

Not trying to get into a pissing contest on this one, but I believe you are wrong on this one.

Pic 1. My car in '07 getting VA state inspection and emissions. Note clearly the certificates for both on the wall to the left of my car.

I have my VA state done there every year in the past and emissions 2 years ago.

    Peace.

    Robert

I could be wrong. But I do know they used to take my TR and Maser to the Nissan dealer. Also when I bought my 575, they had to bring it their. Don't they need a special dyno machine to run emissions? I do not think they have that. But I could be wrong.

Wetpet, you are correct many people will put up with a lot, but I suspect a lot of that has come to an end. We all know there are alternative places, and I believe they do as well.

I dropped my Ferrari off today and met Peterson. He said that they can do state inspections but were waiting on their emissions certification. To be honest with you I don't have a warm and fuzzy but will continue with an open mind as I don't think the new guys can screw things up any worse than the old ones.

They've done my emissions for the last 2 years but I'm starting to get concerned by the sound of things. The last time I had the emissions done I got the $103 burned out tail light bill from the inspection. For those of you who know me, my car wants for nothing and I'm 100% certain there were no light problems but I didn't care too much since they've done so much for the Ferrari community.

The same "guys" that caused your previous dissatisfaction are still in control of the service department.
