Does painting a black center console work??

apply some new vinyl or leather using new panels from Reoriginals.

As Greg rightly points out, MOST of the 308 interior is actually vinyl.

The leather smell is from the seats and the door panels.

Console, dash and armrests, all vinyl.

 

If your interior are originally black maybe you can just dye it.
But of course a new leather is the best way.

 

Hope this shows up. Page 4 of a 3x8 interior redo I had the honor of suffering through. But 'yes', you can indeed paint it, but with water-based dye, NOT oil-based solvent dye (really paint). Anyway, see if this helps...

Well, he did recommend I purchase a 77 308 over any other because of the hot cams and no cats. I found one a few weeks later and jumped on it! That was 6.5 years ago. Love my 308!

The center console on my 308 is leather - dash and armrests are vinyl.

If your console is just suffering from scuffs, scrapes and general wear and tear then dye it. The results will amaze you! Try Leatherique (water based) or SEM Color Coat (laquer based). Really - worth the effort!
