I have an opportunity to bring both my 355 and 328 to a bikini/lingerie photo shoot for them to use my cars as photo props. I will receive nothing for this other than looking at the girls and the chance for some photos. There are usually about 15 photographers at these event and the photos could end up on various web sites and in publication.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on if this adds and "value" to the vehicle when selling? Does being able to state that the car was featured in "XYZ" calendar or "XYZ" magazine add anything to a prospective buyer?

Just interested is anyone has had anything positive from this type of situation. In any case it it happens, I'll post some photos here.

Unless it's a mag test or epic ad I'd say no

The value will be subjective to the potential buyer. Some people may find it adds value, while other could car less. Me personally, don't care where the hell it's been or who owned it.

"Oh, that's not a dent. It's an imprint from Bodacious Booty Babe! And did you notice her stiletto heel scratches over here? Fix it? And end up losing value? Would you erase a Babe Ruth autograph?" :D

When I had my 308 it was featured as a prop in a multi-page layout in Vogue magazine, on the Jon Stewart show, and in some other non-car publications. The experience was cool, hung out with a bunch of models all day, or with the Jon Stewart show cast for a day. But it didn't mean anything as far as provenance.

On the other hand, I'd think if it was in a car specific television show or publication, that might matter.

The Jon Stewart show still has the video up their site, except the obvious Magnum PI shots, the 308 is mine, and where it's moving I was the "stunt" driver. I sold those car seat covers to a guy in Guam after I got out of the car. Many hours of the car was filmed, but only a few seconds where used. My wife and I are up front in the crowd in the last scene:

No, it will decrease the value dramatically. But since I'm your friend and my car already has a salvage title, I'll be glad to stand in for you. :D

It did for me. When I read the Forza feature on my car, I thought, "Yep, that's it." I wanted THAT car. I'm thrilled things worked out as they did!

The Forza article, or something with a write-up from a pro can add, but the possibility of scratches or dings from "car unconscious" models is too high a price to pay for nothing.

I'm pretty sure that TrojanFan was referring to girlie shoots, specifically.

However, great bragging rights either way! ;)

Yep. I'll post some if it happens. In their last shoot they used an NSX and I told him that they needed to upgrade.

I built a car that was featured in Car Craft. I felt like that helped the value. It was also used in a hot girl photo shoot and I don't think that did/would change the value at all.

Hey - that's my car now! Had I known it was used in this fashion, I would have NEVER purchased it!! ;)

I'm now archiving all this media so that if I ever sell it, I'll promote the "provenance". I'm a marketing guy - these are tasty tidbits!!!

Hey, nice to hear from you. I'll find the issue of Vogue magazine it was in, you might be able to pick up a copy on eBay.

Do you really care about whether it increases the cars value or is this just an opportunity for you to be close to the girls.

Shoot was postponed due to the weather. Let's see what happens next time. I'm probably selling my 328 next year so I thought a few good photos that just happen to have bikini clad girls in them may help get some attention.

My Mondial attended a classic car convention here in Portugal (when it was still the previous owner's property) and it definately had a charm associated with it, as he kept all the paper clips.

I believe when the car is featured in a reputed car magazine, it can have a certain charm. Don't know how/if it'll translate in added value though. Bikini shoots, I don't see how that's relevant to value. Can't see a single way that it can add value.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

I suspect it depends on where the photos end up. If on some widely distributed bikini calendar, to certain buyers it may make a difference. I doubt if it would have to me though.
