Just ordered a new 488. Very excited. Car will be here next Spring( I hope!!)
If you put the car into race mode, how does that differ from Sport mode? Does it open the exhaust bypass valves?

In race mode the bypass valves open earlier than they do in sport mode. But the valves do open in both modes one the car is in higher revs.

Some people choose to install a remote control that allows them to open he valves at their will.

Some unplug the valves so they remain open all the time. My valves got unplugged that way. However, I did not like that as I felt it was too loud in idling situations and at slow speeds. So I am now in stock mode.

In race mode the intervention by traction control & stability control (nannies) is later than it is in sport mode.

Race mode baffles open over 3000 rpm...sport mode over 5000 rpm.

Used to drive around in race mode all the time until l pulled the vacuum lines...now they stay open all the time regardless of mode. Around town l use wet mode...highway race mode.

Unlike the 458 (which switches from a single exhaust to a dual exhaust mode), the exhaust system on the 488 has only a dual exhaust mode.

Changing to Race mode changes to more aggressive shifts and less intervention in the traction control system.
