Been talking with a follow rookie number for the last couple weeks. They keep identifying parts of my F430 that we are parting out. We seem to be back-and-forth on several parts and then after negotiating got this today. To me it sounds like a scam. Curious if anybody else has had this happen here in classifieds.

Does this sound like a scan from a ferrari club member?

“Deal! Im in middle east but I will pay to you now paypal if your prefer and keep the stuff, pack them and if you can make invoice just to print a paper with your name and address and I will provide to you my name and address including the items description and prices then I will let a shipping company come to you and collect the box”

Thoughts?? Sounds like every Facebook marketplace scam, but from an FC member rookie”

He’s offering to pay you via PayPal and let you keep the parts? Not sure how you could get hurt.

In marketplace people pay with credit cards not theirs and before anyone notices arranges pick up and or asks for money back because they can’t pick up. People send money back and they get paid but the original transaction gets reversed. Just curious and maybe because we get lots of scam attempts on marketplace and our online components I am soured.
Guess it goes two ways they have to hope there are parts actually being sold.. I prefer a bit more phone conversation

So many grammatical errors in your post and you are supposedly from Tampa, I have doubts on the veracity of both of you.

If you don't have a valid tracking number to sumbit to PayPal to confirm shipment, the buyer can claim he never received the parts and ask for a refund. This can also be problematic with any international transaction, since tracking doesn't always work reliably overseas.

I would ask for PayPal F&F, wire transfer, Venmo, etc. and confirm which shipping service will be used to make sure it is valid. DHL in a marked van, ok. Some unknown shipper with no ID, don't open the door.

i agree with the above. we ship all over from our other business. many people request USPS because the duties are random and no "brokerage fees" pop up like with other carriers; however once the handoff from USPS to local (Canada/ UK/ other) postal service the tracking usually stops and some dishonest people claim items were never delivered (and whether they are or are not is not able to be proven), so we try to avoid these situations. I think wire, zelle or venmo is the answer.

sorry my linguistic skills have offended some. i often voice text/ type, and then copy / paste as I have been removing parts for last few days. Anyone who has removed front ends/ hydraulics and windshields (yesterday) knows the seals "tar" and liquids don't always make for friendly phone / email time. I will try to impove upon my grammer!

The world is a very unsecured place these days. Funny, but I actually have customers come into my shop asking for contacts locally for parts they are looking to purchase. They simply do not trust internet transactions much anymore.

I could tell you a story about a supposed aluminum body 300 SL gull wing overseas that was for sale (in AutoWeek) ... which included a fake title (expertly done) for a car that did not exist. Offer to arrange travel and so on.
You can never be too careful these days.

Phishing for information on you may be the only motive for many of the scammers out there. Even with a wire transfer-- not totally immune to loss of account info.

i'll keep you posted but was given a local US name and number and shipping address which has made me feel more comfortable with consumating the transaction. once wire has been initiated i'll ship. Silly how the world has changed and where we really have to question EVERYTHING and unfortunately EVERYBODY..

This is a total scam, don't fall for it even with a US address. Report the user to the admins and they'll ban him. I've dealt with at least one scammer on something I was trying to buy, reported him, he was ousted the next day.
