We are in the middle of a road trip to California for the Challenge Rally. We are currently stopped at the Ferrari Dealer in Portland, however, because the car keeps dropping power and feeling like it's running on a single bank of cylinders, and then if I pull over to check things out, it won't fire (starter runs great, just no ignition). So far, we've figured out that the right side fuel pump fuse is burning out after about 15 miles. Replacing the 10amp fuse will allow me to start the car and run normally for a while, but then eventually the power cuts in half and I lose the fuel pump fuse again. Could it be simply a lot of corrosion in the path (we are replacing a bunch of the corroded connectors this morning), or do you think the fuel pump is dead/dying and creating enough resistance to blow the fuse? They don't have an F40 fuel pump in stock here, and I'm afraid I'm going to miss the rally unless I can get back on the road today. Any advice? Any other possible causes? Thanks in advance.

I hesitate to say anything since it seems like you have this well thought through. Not to mention you know these cars much better than me! Only think I can suggest is measuring the volt drop along the circuit to see if you can isolate a faulty segment or connector.

Hope you can get it resolved in time to rejoin the rally. Best of luck.

it does sound like the pump is playing up!

measure the current which it is pulling! i would also measure voltage at the pump, taking a close look at the earth path! i wouldnt drive the car though! as you know a lean mixture (due too loss of fuel rail pressure) could end in one dead engine

I've seen this problem before many times, you might get lucky and just clean the connections at the pump which is on top of the fuel tank and get back on the road.
The connectors sits in a pocket which turns into a water trap and gravel collector. You will have to remove the rear wheel and liner to access the connector. Were talking green ugly corrosion on the connectors and in the Pump pin side too.
Also I've replaced many pumps, the pumps get ruined when the rubber foot deteriorates, then plugs the pump screen.
Side note the Thermal Coupler ECU's will sometimes create a false positive with no slow down warning that will cause a bank to shut down intermitently

    Good Luck

Check the pump inlet screen for restriction. if it's running dry or aeriated, it'll overload the circuit and pop the fuse.

On a Euro, car I'd say double check to make sure the rubber tanks are not disintegrating with age... but a US car has alloy tanks of course.
