My 993 needs help. A lot of electrics don't work, and I'm thinking of turning it into a race car, or perhaps a budget-minded Singer.

I loved the open front quarter windows of, say, my Alfa Romeo Spider. The chrome is beautiful, and the windows are functional. Could I use those same windows in a 993? The glass looks the same, but I don't know anything about small dimensional changes or the way that glass has been installed over the years.

Also, do 964 front fenders fit a 993?

    Thanks!

    Matt

Front fenders do not fit. Door Window frames would work but the 993 has the little flap down the trailing edge for wind noise. The only year for alloy opening wing windows is 68. Previous years are brass and later don’t open. All other openings are different though as they have a wider flange for the 993 glue in seals. It used to be popular to put the 993 windows in early cars but much more difficult to go the other way.

    Thanks.

I also realized that I would have an issue with the 3rd brake light.

Do you mean front quarter windows or rear? I’d love to have front opening wing windows.

    Thanks again,

    Matt

Yes, wing windows in the front on 68 and earlier.

    There’s a way. I don’t know how, but where there’s a will there’s a way.

    It might require some fabricating.

(btw, I’ve always heard those referred to as just “vents” or “a vent window”)

And I agree. Why those opening front vent windows disappeared from automobiles has to be due to only styling and money savings. They’re so practical, I’m surprised automakers did away with them.
