Do you hit the limiter often? Do you peep the tach? Or have you learned when to shift by sound and feel? Regrets?
I have the LEDs and still hit the limiter a couple of times. Most of the time I know when to shift by sound. The lights are more of a novelty but I do like them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks, brobin. Good info. I have spec’d my April build with a full leather wheel with the belief that I will learn the quick revving engine by sound and feel.
I ordered the CF Steering Wheel + LEDs but having the wheel wrapped in leather. IMO, the LEDs are a must and in my experience useful and conducive to resale attractiveness. A must have for me!
LED steering wheel was a must have in my build. I would have done all leather with LED but was told the wait time would be longer being it is extra companario so I chose the LED carbon steering wheel.
It used to be the case (as a parameter in the settings) but to be honest I never checked for the 488...
Yes, just disconnect the connector https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/steering-wheel-shift-lights.555459/page-3#post-145691689
I have the LEDs in CF on the steering wheel of my 488 Spider. The car simply revs too fast to focus on the rev counter, and you have to be able to quickly see when you are approaching redline. Because of the quick revving 488 engine with a ~8000rpm redline, it is MUCH easier to bounce off the rev limiter in the 488 than the 458. It is easy to pick up the LEDs on the wheel in the lower part of your peripheral vision. IMO, this is the single most important option. CF versus leather is a matter of personal preference; I like the CF wheel.
It's one of the nicest extras you can fit your Ferrari with. It's a matter of personal taste of course, and re-sale relevance is somewhat subjective, but it is a sought after extra and has a high degree of cool factor. I actually had my steering wheel changed on my 458, from leather to CF w/LED. Best decision I made. It helps a lot during spirited drives. On a 488, even more so imho. Kind regards, Nuno.
Really ? I don't have that as an issue as my car wont come until June. 12 15 month lead time in Australia
Indeed. Dealer just told me I can order it that way and the car won’t be delayed. Helpful insight here, guys. Thanks. Anyone know the upcharge on leather with LED?
It works out as the wheel with LED's then an extra grand or 2 for the leather. In this instant it wasn't about the extra charge it was that i didn't want carbon but I wanted the LED's. At least this was easy try getting a horse in the front bumper like nearly 95% of all Ferrari's have or the lidded storage in the centre console that's in the Spider in a GTB. The wont do it
