The dome light in my 1980 308 GTS (Euro) just disintegrated. It was not working and I decided to remove it to see if I could revive it...sadly no. It came out in 4 pieces. I searched for a replacement online and (with some help) found one in Britain for 60 pounds, before shipping. Needless to say, that seemed like a lot. I searched again on the internet for crossover info and found a reference book that shows the crossover parts for the 308. The book is here: https://usermanual.wiki/Document/PartsXRefPDF.371240546.pdf. It seems to be a collection of info that was on FerrariChat some years ago but put into one booklet. There are quite a few parts in the book that can be had at much less cost from non-Ferrari suppliers.

Anyway, I scrolled down and found that the dome light on the 308 is a crossover to an MBZ dome light for a 1977 MBZ sedan. Awesome. Searched the internet again for that part and found it on eBay for $28 delivered. Score! I got the part yesterday and it is an almost identical part. That part is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/361341410315 I plugged it together, put in the bulb, and flipped through the 3 position switch. It works perfectly. I can no choose to have the light on when the door opens...or not. It also works in night light mode. Perfect replacement. Coppa Bella Machina here I come. So, if your 308 dome light explodes...there's hope.

Good job. Does the timer work?

Ah, didn't know there was a timer. If there is it's not in the light fixture. My door lights stay on the whole time the door is open...no matter how long. I assume the dome light mimics that since it's on the same circuit. Does your 308 GTS have a light timer? I just looked in the wiring diagram and can't find anything that would control timing.

I have an 85 QV. The 3 way switch on the light selects on/off/timer.
The timer circuit is under the passenger footwell if you have one.

About 9 years ago when I was restoring my 78 GTS, I ordered the dome light from a well know Ferrari parts retailer. Of course I paid Ferrari price, $119.00. when I received it I noticed it was made by Hella. I did a search and found that Mercedes, as well as Ferrari used the same light. I ordered one from a foreign parts dealer and paid $14.99 for the same unit. Needless to say, the "official Ferrari" unit was returned.

Here is link to the same light. Just goes to show that there are reasonable parts for the Ferrari around if you look hard enough!

Wow, that one didn't come up in my search! $9 is outstanding.

Guys, ALWAYS read the Parts X-Ref thread above FIRST BEFORE you spend a nickel.

    You'll find this part there.
