The weather is warmer in Italy, the food is better, he will be closer from home...kids can go back to their old school...
(Sorry John, just kidding: I have had the same questions in mind, but for the time being there is no other information that a very short communiqué...)

My quick guess is mentioned in the article, VW is planning a spin-off a la FIAT/Chrysler-Ferrari, though for different reasons.

Not sure if you saw it, but VW's liability for the diesel emission scandal is up to $45 billion. Last year they had $25B in cash, and a line of credit for the same amount. I suspect Lamborghini could get spun off.

Lambo just got whacked in the IMSA series for parts infringement ... not much money wise but not a great welcome to IMSA.

Lamborghini only exists today because there is so much AUDI in them. Not sure to what degree a sale would make any sense.

Good point. A friend has a relatively new R8 with a modest 550 hp engine, and the V10 is the same as in the Lamborghini. So, a spin-off would probably be something like what Aston Martin did when they were bought from Ford.

Still using Ford engines and probably a whole lot more. Audi would keep Lambo as a customer, and probably charge through the nose for its equipment.

Then all cars would have to be re-engineered. I guess its wait and see.

Maybe it´s true that he was working in their F1 programme, but now that they´re spending that money fixing diesel engines and hiring lawyers they had to relocate him. So why not at Lamborghini? It always has been a Ferrari wannabe and had ex-Ferrari men working there.

so, spin off lambo then go racing in f1? not sure what part of domenicalli's f1 experience qualifies him to be ceo at lamborghini, especially someone after winkelmann.

As it stands right now - What's this news got to do with F1?

Domenicali has nothing to do with F1 any more, and neither does Lamborghini!

Another reason not to buy an Audi with an Italian name and Romanian engine.

IT could point to more racing, less show-offiness. If that's where Lambo shoul dbe headed, I don't know, but Winkelmann was no fan of racing...

Agreed... but what part of Jean Todt's F1 experience qualified him to be CEO of Ferrari? (Or Managing Director, or whatever his title was under Chairman Luca). I never understood that move, and was glad it was short-lived.

Domenicali was a great team leader and a fantastic human being. I'm sure he will be very successful at Lambo. I liked him so much better than Arrivabene but that's from personal experience and speaking to some of the Ferrari mechanics.
