    Walt Garrison was on the radio today telling DM stories. Pretty funny to hear it from someone that was there.

    I was in the Dallas Cowboys Club in 1961, and this pic is from a meeting in the fall of that
    year. Meredith to my right, LG Dupre #45, and Don McIlhenny #42 behind them. Don is Lance's dad, who won the SWC title in 1982 with the Pony Express (Dickerson & James).

    Meredith was an early hero of mine, and got to meet him again in 2000 at a restaurant in Santa Fe.

    A great humorist, who got reclusive in his later years. Lee Roy Jordan said that Meredith quit at 31, because of all the booing and bad press he was getting. He couldn't understand people not thinking he was trying his best. Left after a 12 - 2 season, but got benched after 2 interceptions in a playoff game. Landry always viewed Don as a rebel.
