How do you get collector plates on a 2010 replica?

License plate frame would suggest it's a real Porsche...

Thanks, that one in the back is an 09 997TT punched to 670hp. :) On street gas it's down to 489hp at the wheels.

Thank you. It's available for sale as well, assuming I get a "real" offer. :) That would need to be north of $40K.

    Hi Michael,

Beautiful car! Is the tub a Beck? And how does it drive? Does it feel squirrely?

"Frozen snot" spyders and speedsters are all about misdirection aren't they? BTW, the round exhaust ports tell us that your "real 1960 stroker motor" was sourced from Wolfsburg, not Stuttgart as implied.

I'm not a fan of replicas, for the reason you state, but there are plenty of "Fiero-Ferrari" threads where we've discussed the topic to death and beyond. I think this thread was about the workmanship of the project which, frankly, looks well done.

What I found disconcerting about the car pictured here is that it claims to be a "1955 Porsche" on the license plate frame, and seems to be wearing more badges than a real Porsche. I would at least change those. Clearly it's not a 1955, and apparently it's not a Porsche. It's deceptive, IMHO.

Is that a Vintage Spyder? Looks like it from the coilovers and interior layout. I had one a few years back with a 186hp motor. Fun little cars.

    Beauty!

I'm curious where it was built as I've driven a few replicas over the years. Far and away the best was built by Wil Cashen at Automotive Legends in Malibu - stupid fast and raw. I nearly soiled myself when he was sliding the back of that thing around the corners in first gear up in the canyons.

Anyway, congrats on a great car little car - #2 on my favorites list behind behind the Aston DB4 GT Zagato.

Vintage Spyders of CA originally build this one and it drives ok. Think of an older bug, if you ever got to drive one of those.

    Take a guess...
    Michael,
Nice work on the Spyder, replica or not... I am, however, immensely distracted by the implications of the two comments I quoted above...
Perhaps I missed the joke, but am I to understand that you'd be willing to relinquish your 09 997tt for $41k???
If so, and assuming it hasn't been totalled since these pics, can I have a few days to figure out the cash?
Hell, I'll give you $42k if you'll hold it for me... that's 996 money!
This sounds like the deal of a lifetime, and I'm still in the WRX I had last time we met, endlessly dreaming of just that once in a lifetime 911 turbo deal... this sounds like it, so what am I missing here?
    Regards,
    Tad

PS- If I missed the joke, may I at least impose upon you for a ride at the next Cannon Beach event? ;) Thanks in advance!

Sorry, my bad after re-reading the post. Yes you may, and no joke other than the fact I was referring to the Spyder on the sales price. :):)

I had the work done by MaxxRPM here in Bremerton. The motor part numbers and info came from them. Either way, it doesn't matter to me as I know it's a replica and just a fun toy. :) As to the badges that someone eluded to, they came with the car and I left them there and there was never an intention to deceive anyone, ergo the original post stating that it is indeed a replica.
