Last Saturday, I decided to attend the weekly "Donut Derelicts" gathering at Dandy Donuts on Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. I had last been there last August.

A modest but very interesting group of vehicles, representing the U.S., Italy and Britain. (A Porsche in flat black paint made a short appearance as well.)

My favorite was the '56 Studebaker Sky Hawk, though I didn't care for the modern wheels and tires. But the Raymond Loewy styling still works!

It should not be a surprise that there were two Panteras there, since they started this gathering in the first place. (There would have been 3 Panteras if Bob had gotten his wheels. You can see his white 'vette in the first pic above.) The first Pantera was nice, but the second one was just stunning, and it had the plate that all other Pantera owners in the state would probably like to have!

Also, some British representation, with an MG TF and a Triumph Spitfire.

Some bonus coverage from a car show I attended the same day at the Sonic in Acworth. This time I elected not to enter, since I didn't want to stay for the duration. (But, with the Ferrari parked nearby, it did get some attention anyway. It's visible in the background of the photo of the police car.)

Of the two Mustang Cobras in the last pic, the one on the left is owned by FChatter Rick Charles (STEEDA30), who is tending to the right front quarter.

MikeD's Pantera is kinda hard to beat for show quality for sure. I like that 64-65 Nova at the other show........ always like those early smaller Novas......(hey, I at least got the rears last Friday.......man 13" is W I D E)

I sold Mike that car 10 years ago. He has taken it a long way from when I had it.

Has Mike re-painted the Pantera or has he just worked his waxes to death?

I'm pretty sure he got the car like that. The one major item he did was to put the Coddingtion Campy's on it (actually what you see on there are his improved 2nd set from last year). His website has a great cronology of what he has done to the car over the years.

So I gather the fronts are still out there, somewhere? I guess you could just put the two wheels on, like Rick did with his Bora, but then I guess the results might look strange.....

The car was that color when I bought it out of Texas. It had some small imperfections in the paint but Ithink a little wet sanding probaby solved it.

Mike is a perfectionist and a good guy. I'm sure he has done the car right.

Does anyone know when Italian Car Days are and where it will be?

We brought the Daytona to the T Rutlands/Giovanni event and had a great time. Thinking about bringing the Boxer over to Atlanta in October when I think this event is usually held.

As far as I know, Italian Car Day will be October 7th, again at Kurt's Restaurant in Duluth. As the saying goes, "watch this space" for later info.
