Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this without doing major surgery on my 328. The door card flaps a little when I close the door and I'm worried its going to end up messing up the other attachment points.

I showed it to an interior guy and he recommended replacing the leather and rebuilding the whole panel.

the solution for a long time was to use an increasingly large washer to hold it all together.

Any ideas? While I'm here - any recommendations on someone who could repair this in Orange County or Los Angeles?

Remove the door card and take it to your local upholstery shop and see if they can fix it or show them these pics you posted.

I would think that the upholstery shop could glue in a bent plastic plate with hole to the door card to grab the screw and washer.

That is a simple Fibreglass repair so you can get the screw in the original position

Epoxy a piece of predrilled light guage metal on the back then do a small tear repair to make it less noticeable. Been a while since I have had a door panel off. Its fiberglass or similar isn't it?
In those days the upholstery shop was not very consistent where those holes were. Interior quality is one place Ferrari has improved since then.

Even if you do a fiberglass repair as suggested a metal reinforcement would be a good choice.

Thank you - you have reinforced what I had in my mind.

Yeah, I think you can make that look 100% better with reinforcement and strategic surgery on the leather to reattach the piping back to the panel.

I don't know what the back of the door card looks like or is made of, but Rifledriver's suggestion sounds good. I think the damage is telling us that whatever repair you use, it needs to cover a wider area and have reinforcement around the hole.

For the piping -- years ago I used medical super glue (what a surgeon will use to close up a wound) to stitch a leather seam back together and boy did that work well. Teeny dab and pinch with small clamp until cured, then keep moving along the seam. I think regular super glue will do just as well.
