    Hey -

    Planning a little bike trip / leaving here Sunday ( Aug 4 ) and heading East to Eagle River, WI.

    Heading Southeast on Monday, through Shawano, WI, and then up to Sisters Bay for three nights at the Dorr.

    We have nothing planned for Tuesday and Wednesday - I’d like to do lunch in Baileys Harbor one day - any good lunch spots with a view ?

    Will also run to Ellison Bay & Gills Rock - again, good lunch spot ?

    Anything a must see ? We like to walk / hike 1-2 hours in the AM.

    *** I’m allergic to seafood & fish BTW !!!

    So Levi and took my old Porsche and went up to Bailey’s Harbor. There’s a very good fish company that sells fresh fish, especially whitefish, perch, and they have Alaskan salmon. Went to pick some stuff up for dinner and need to bring perch home to Appleton for my wife. She loves it. My whole family loves it. We can go into death buying perch.

    On the way I have been thinking…. I think a good day for you doing a tour around would be to leave Sister Bay an cut over to Bailey’s Harbor. If you guys are motivated to get up early, we could catch the sunset or shortly there after. There is a coffee house that I believe serves breakfast as well as another place just down the street. From there continue down and take the road into Sturgeon Bay. Could kick around Sturgeon Bay. The downtown is nice. There are couple of marinas. You could probably kick around to check out boats specially on the other side of the old bridge and the Maritime museum is there. from there, take horseshoe Bay Road up to egg Harbor. Where horseshoe Bay Road meets the main drag in egg Harbor is right where mezzanine is. After that, you could head up and do fish Creek. Probably would be fun to bar/cocktail hop your way up through the afternoon. There are a lot of good places to stop. You could get a drink at Barringers in Fish Creek. They have a very cool outside bar near the water.

    Yep, that is a good plan!!!!

    I love Door County! Some of the best Smallmouth and Walleye fishing among others. Beautiful area along and on the water.

    Rob, you need to come back up here one of these days. Dale Strochein live just down the bay from us and is still actively guiding. He also has a small hotel on our bay that is a pretty nice place to stay at.

    I never reported back …

    So we left on Sunday at about 10:30 AM or so and road to Eagle River, WI - we are now 300 miles East. Got up the next morning and headed SE to Green Bay and then stopped in Sturgeon Bay for a beer and pizza at Sonny’s. We had an excellent ride through the Wisconsin forests - beautiful roads, lakes, scenery, curves, etc ….

    From Sonny’s, we headed up to Sister Bay where we stayed at “the Dorr” - great hotel and within walking distance of a few bars / restaurants, the city park on the water, and the marina. We road up to Gills Rock and Northport ( the last mile or two is famous because of all the curves ). We also checked out Egg Harbor ( had a beer at Mezzanine on the roof top ) and stopped at Barringers in Fish Creek. All these little towns have marinas so if you like to look at boats ( I do ), you’ll enjoy that.

    We had steaks at Chop, right next to the Dorr hotel - was pretty good. Another cool open air lunch spot was Boathouse on the Bay, about 2 blocks North of the hotel.

    At the Sister Bay Marina, there was a huge 65 foot ( ? ) Hatteras tied up with a Ferrari parked next to it - named “Hat Trick” - port was Chicago - pretty cool to see.

    I’ll post a few pics - most of these ideas on where to go came from our very own “SLM” - thanks again Steve.

    PS: For you Harley guys, we stopped at Doc’s Harley Davidson near Shawano, WI - pretty incredible - he has vintage Harley’s on display, a car collection, a zoo, restaurant, a motorcycle museum, and the dealership - could spend hours walking around that place and checking things out.
