    Hi everybody,
I am trying to find this piece in the spare parts catalog of a Ferrari 308 GTSI of 1980 and I don’t see it !!!! The problem is that during the disassembly of a fixation of the right side for a new painting of the vehicle, this small metal plate fell down between the tank and the bodywork. I don’t know at all how I can recover it !!!
Is someone among to you have an idea ???
By the way, is this metal plate original or just a “quibbling” ? (see pictures)
Many thanks by advance for your help
    Fred

I would pull the tape around the rear deck lid latch assembly just below, and see if I could loosen that latch enough to gain access to the plate from there and push it upward. If not, I would mark that latch cable where it connects to the deck lid latch just over the tail light assembly, loosen the nut holding it and pull the deck lid latch assembly out enough to help retrieving it.

Oh wow! Bummer. Do a search - I think I remember someone posting about it and retrieving it. You can buy a USB borescope camera quite cheaply on the interweb. You might be able to hook it or get a magnet to it if you can visualise it.

Unfortunatly, It's not the left side with the deck latch, but the right side where there are no access because of the fuel tank ! :-(

In my opinion, I think that for access, it would be necessary that I move the fuel tank slightly to be able to drop the plate. According to you, is it possible or not ?

Hi, I am one of the people who had this problem some time ago when the Door Latching Plate fell into the "void"! I have a small headed camera (Harbor Freight) and when I located it, I used a flexible magnet headed tool to retrieve the Plate. Took a couple of attempts, but I got it up in the end and made sure to hook it up into place with a small Pick. I them put in one of the screws to make sure it did not fall back again. Good luck! If to need details of the Camera or the magnetic tool let me know,I can send it to you or put it up here on this thread.

Thats what you have to use if this were a Lotus Europa. Dropping that plate requires a section of the fibreglass body to be cut out to retrieve it then re-glassed again!

They improved things with the Esprit - you only have to take the engine out.
