Can some one take a picture of the inside door handle,I would like to see how the trim is finished of around the handle as you pull it back, tried to look at some threads with pictures of the handle but could not get a clear enough picture.

Thanks Tony, if it possible to take a photo of the leather when the handle is pulled back,it looks like the the trim is just cut square across the handle,or better still if you could remove the backing plate that would show me the way it should be cut.If anybody reading this has a trim off the car a photo back and front of the area would be great. Thanks again Tony.

I would take the trim off but it is a real ***** to get back so i would rather not unless you get desperate!!

The difficult bit is trimming the leather around the hinge mechanism at the front. First and foremost get a scrap piece of leather or material and practise first.

I cut the leather by slitting it along the length (but not beyond the chrome bezel) and then pushing the handle through it, then i made two tiny slits in the leather either side of the hinge leaving the tag in the middle. Once you put the chrome plate over and secure it in place, tuck the small flap behind the hinge and it neatly finishes of this area.

The things you do for fellow Dinophiles!
I have just been up in my attic just for you. here are a couple of shots of mine as returned from the trimmers and not yet cut......I would assume that it just requires the leather cutting back and folding over and as for the cutout he has replicated the original as when bodged together by Ferrari!
    Cheers, G P

I wish it was as easy as that Graham.

You need to pay particular attention around the hinge area.

Tony, Am i being thick( i know) i don't really see where you mean...surely the recessed chrome plate hides the edge of the leather that you turn back under it? what does this plate screw through to?

On my car it was a interior coloured vinyl/ leather piece glued around and under the handle, on the paint, this in order to avoid the the paint will be visible when opening the door!

The chrome piece has a cut out where the hinge mechanism is, when you push the door handle through the leather or vinyl you have to make a further cut along the same line where your trimmer has already made a slit.

The tricky bit is to trim around the hinge or opening in the chrome bezel without it showing. ie the chrome bezel hides up all of the outer edge except where the hinge is.

Luckily you are only a few miles up the road so i will show you, but it is rather difficult to explain unfortunately for the benefit others. Get a scrap piece of material and try it first, you will see what i mean.

Dont recall a piece of material glued to the body work, the only section that has this is aorund the finger pull.

The chrome plate screws into the inner door skin. If you have no original holes then you also need to be careful as a incorrectly mounted bezel will not let the door handle shut flush with the bezel.
