Thanks, for the info in keys and codes, when I bought our 308 it only came with one set of keys, so I quickly found blanks and had copies made. Who is a good source for embroidered floor mats?
Me too. But I was lucky, my car came with 3 sets of folding keys, I guess that could be a good thing now that they are NLA.
Thanks for the info as well. I didn't think keys4classics had my blanks as I'd seen them on ebay and they didn't seem to have them using that link to access the store. So, easy to get the door keys made from the code, I'm waiting on a response regarding ignition from the dealership. Jeff
Yea, I got introuble with that joke at work once. She said it was sexual harassment, must have been her life partner laying on the floor cleaning things up.....
The 'folding key' explanation was in a previous thread - its supposedly a 'safety feature' so the driver doesn't get hurt by impaling their leg on it in a bad crash......
A chatter just posted the OEM Nieman blanks on collectibles..... I use Ilco and Taylor blanks as well........ Ilco run about $4 each....no horsie though.......
They're not OEM - they're replicas. The last time I was offered OEM Nieman key blanks, the cost was $300 EACH. Makes the F-40 key blank, at $80, a bargain.
AJ's repros are VERY HIGH QUALITY. Can't tell them from the originals. I have a set I bought from him a while ago, along with a couple of original keys I got for about $100 each. I haven't seen any on ebay lately, but I would guess $300 is about right. Grab a couple of these. They're very nice quality and you can cut them yourself with a dremel, I did!! Dave
My thread seems to have degenerated a bit here. Never thought that key blanks would turn into sexual discrimination. Anyway, I've got it figured out for a what I think will be a cheap and accurate way to make copies. Apparently keys4classics.com can get key codes from high res photos at an inexpensive cost and copy the keys that way as well. Makes me wonder about the security of keys to begin with. Maybe that's why the $4 key turned into a $150 key for modern cars. Jeff
i have looked long and hard i may have came with some oem folding blanks i dont know how many i end up with and iam still looking for more if anyone has any please contact me gtestarossa007 at 913 579 6787 or [email protected]
Incidentally, if you have your original Neiman key for your 308, your key code is the number stamped on the one side of the key head.
