Could use a little help. 1988 TR with both doors closed puddle lights and red door markers stay on. I took out the button pins and tested that all 4 function when actuated. I tested each button pin mounting screw to ground and got continuity. Three of the 4 button pin switch wires had full continuity to ground but the right top button pin switch wire displayed 2.6mOhms (see pic). Any ideas on what might be wrong or how to fix issue? Steve...thanks in advance..lol Image Unavailable, Please Login

You've got that backwards -- when the wire connected to the door open switch is grounded = turns the door lights "on". But first, make sure that you don't have the pushbutton switch in the overhead console to turn "on" the overhead interior roof light "on" (that switch also turns "on" the door lights, and the overhead interior roof light is so feeble you'd never notice that it was "on" ;)).

For reference, I believe the lower switches are only for seatbelt warning and moustrack seatbelt operation.

So you identified which was the 12 volt power pin first?

It would be so easy to not respond and ghost you but Im a Boomer and we never did that. So, I gave a ride to a friend the day before this issue, and he must have pushed the overhead council pushbutton….and like you say, it was so did I did not notice..lol. Thanks Steve….embarrassed here

No problem -- that's an easy "fix" that I like. When I bought my TR it was about 9 years old, and that overhead light was already just absolutely useless. I wonder if that overhead light ever really made any actually visible light even when a TR was new.
