Couldn't lock door with key, outside. Removed door panel, all mechanisms work. Close door, lock from inside (through removed roof) locks go down, doors should be locked. Can still open door from outside.
    Thoughts?

    Thanks

    Check your vacuum hoses.

It could be that the knobs are physically down, but are no longer operating the vacuum system.

If you push the knob down on the driver's side, it should lock both doors. Does the knob go down on the passenger side when you depress the one on the driver's? If not, I would say it's very likely a loose or broken vacuum hose.

True, and you can use an actuator from almost any vehicle if it fits. I replaced mine with one from an Oldsmobile I believe. I took 2 out of a wreck and kept 1 as a spare.

You may need to make adjustments since you say it activates.

I had to adjust the door tentsion to get both locks to operate at the same time. Simply a matter of adj. the door lock post. It appears to change the tensoin on the locking device. Anr I may be all wrong but both sides now operate at the same speed. Lost

Wow, I never realized that the driver's side door lock would operate the passenger"s side. My '82 308 never did and I never thought about it. Electrical vacuum hoses? Do any of you guys have photos, so this winter I can figure out why mine doesn't want to work??

I believe that the actuators come in two flavors Master & Slave. For the 308 the driver's sude is a Master the passenger side a Slave. Hence, the driver side will unlock and lock the passenger side. The passenger side has no effect on the drivers side. The 328 may have two Master units so that either controls the other. When buying aftermarket units choose according to the wiring for Master or Slave.
