it’s the 220 A20 number that;s important. I thought mine was broken so did some Googling to find the above mentioned parts to no avail. Googled 220 A20 and it turns out it was used in some early Euro Mondeos and Scorpios.

Mine turned out to be me not reconnecting the solenoid to the lock after rushing reassembly……

Please can anyone explain how these 4 wire driver door lock units with motors work from key activation. Let me explain...

My Mondial QV has a different set up - the driver door actuator is a switch unit (no motor present) that sends plus or minus 12V as a short pulse to the passenger door actuator depending on if the key locks or unlocks the driver door. It has two input wires (12v and ground) and two output wires carrying the + or - 12V to the passenger door lock actuator.

However, it has malfunctioned and now sends continuous plus or minus 12V to the passenger door actuator, which would fry the motor if I left it connected.

I have bought one of the 4-wire actuators described in this thread containing a motor as a driver door replacement unit. It's the VW camper van unit. However, I am unclear on whether this would be suitable. Cab anyone clarify whether this unit is key acivated and able to send a + or - 12V pulse to the passenger door?

Part of my uncertainty is due to my taking the cover off to try and work out how to wire it up, and I may not have reassembled correctly.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Thanks, Alden. The one you have - is it the same as mine where the driver door actuator is a 4 pin with no motor?

Here are photos for reference (one closed and one opened up).

How's the one side actuator supposed to work without a motor?

Driver door has no motor - works off manually locking/ unlocking, sending voltage to passenger door lock which locks/ unlocks with a motorised actuator

That's the same part I am looking for! So going back over this thread, is that the same unit as used in later QVs and the 3.2? MIne is a 1984 model.

Is your spare for sale, Guido? (Assuming importing to the UK would be possible, or at least not ridiculously expensive!). I'm interested if so.
