I have three door pockets on hand for the resto; two originals (I believe), and one after market (which came with the car and which I won’t be using).

Question re image 1 /2; was the ‘retainer clip’ on the metal band in image 1 original, and if so to which series Dino?

Also, in taking off the metal bands I found the metal to be like spring steel (stainless?), half round to suit profile in plastic.

One looks ‘clean’ like stainless, the other in image 1, looks like it has been sprayed over (pocket and band) with clear lacquer, not original I suspect.

Was the original metal band supplied on the pocket ‘clean’ i.e. without any surface coating?

    Thanks, Paul.

can't speak for the early Dino's but the fourth photo is definitely the modern reproduction and far off.

The banding on the first looks to be original, but maybe the photo is distorting the real impression, but the lower portion should be relatively smooth and without texture.

The photo's showing the back side of the door pockets look to be correct.

Yes photo's 1 and 2 are exactly the same as my pockets and slight texturing to lower part under band is correct. The band has no finish as such just bare metal.
Photo 3 is the same as my wifes classic Fiat 500 (the only part interchangeable with the Dino!)

so...I have one with the 'clip' and one without -just band; any idea which would be right for the Aug/71 E series?

    Paul,
My friend's May/'71 Tipo M has the band; my '72 Tipo E (Euro) has the band with the 'clip,' like yours. Pockets & bands are 'natural' finish; slight grain is like yours, too. That doesn't answer your most recent question, but may help others to narrow it down.
Ya know, there may be no definitive answer; it may just come down to whatever was available as our cars trundled along the track. It's even possible that some cars had one of each, as does yours. Imagine, your little jewel may actually have its original pieces!
Just when we thought we had the solution to the enigma that is Dino, you come up with this! ;)

Hey Coop, thats got to increase the value...No, from the finish on them I'm 100% sure one of the genuine has been added at some point - I'd love to know what was in 02422 or 02426
