Im not a fan of CF at all. Its ugly and expensive (no offense to anyone who likes it, its just not for me) Are there any other options for sill replacements in my 355? Stainless stell maybe? I feel this question comes up a lot, but I couldn't find anything when I searched.
Funny you should mention it, I just finished putting on my new sills. I had a friend make a pair out of stainless for me. Exact size only no indent for the logo but I glued the rubber strip on just to break it up a bit. I'll post some pics tomorrow. It may not be everyones cup of tea but I'll be damned if I'm spending crazy money for sills..............I like my price...free!
There was a guy that made some available a few weeks ago... in the 100-150$ range... Here's his link http://www.carztuff.com/ferrari.shtml
Thats exactly what I am looking for!! I saw those pics a few weeks ago, and I was hoping someone could provide a link. Muchas gracias guys. Edit... Is that the "whole" sill, or just and insert to replace the rubber sinsert. I am looking to replace the whole sill.
What I did was remove the sills and had them powder coated with a black hammertone finish. I have the stainless inserts coming next week from Jamie, both brushed and mirror finish to compare and see what I like best. I am very happy with the hammertone finish. I'll post pics when I get this stainless inserts.
I thought it was nearly impossible to remove the sills without warping them. I too am not sure I like the carbon, but will need new complete sills eventually since they are begining to rust
Here are the pics of my stainless sills and a couple of my car. If anyone is interested, I'm putting it up for sale, 1995 with 17k and all service has been done, runs perfect with no stories. I've owned it for 3 years and don't drive it enough, too many toys. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It ain't easy, took about a half hour for each, the first one was a problem because I didn't know about the screw under the rubber mat, but once I knew how, the second one came off perfectly flat. The rubber cement they use does not harden, a thin long (10-11 inch) cake spatula that you can tap on the handle is the tool of choice. Just never pry up.
