Does anyone know where i can get a pair of these new or good usewd and are they compatible with any other italian marques? Gary 8394 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had something very similar on my Urraco, they are not worth a Sh*^ I made the two "rollers" from a piece of billet silicon on a lathe and made the rubber slider (with a very thin metal piece inside) out of stainless steel, never had an issue again. I sold my car to a freind of mine and after 10 years the still open all the way without creating those door dings on the door lip. You can fross refrence the original part from an old Alfa Romeo - maybe Giulietta? Put even the new ones are very weak.
More or less what Downdraft1 described. They are a pretty "mickey mouse" gizmo that broke a couple times on a clients Miura (looks like the same part). I eventually redesigned the whole thing and fabricated it out of 7075 aluminum. Sorry but I didn't take any photos. I might have the original one in a box somewhere. I'll keep my eyes open for it.
I needed an excuse to go and see my old car (I sold my P250S to and ex Lamborghini emplyee of the "esperienza" product development of the 1970s) and will take some pictures of the new hinge with the door open. Will try to do it this weekend. Alex
Hey Gary, I've not looked into mine but on my car I have a door stop mechanism consisting of rubber bumpers inside of the fenders near the leading edge of the doors that get crushed by the door opening. I wonder if my car has been user modified because like yours the originals failed or if there was a production change from my car to yours? I'll try to take a picture tomorrow as I'm going out there to work on the race car. Anything else I should be looking at ?????? Bob S.
That's great. Thanks for finding it. I'm just shocked Craig never mentioned this to me??? Probably because I don't know the Miura owner's secret handshake ... ;>) Bob S.
