guys need help on what should be done on a car which has been sitting for quite a bit..... have absolutely zero experience in the electronic hydraulic manual (F1) gearbox....... 1. so firstly the car needs to be hooked up to a new battery and needs to be moved onto a carrier.....don't want to start till new fluids are in..... what is the procedure to put her into neutral? where is the towing hook for the 360? 2. besides the engine oil and belts, what other fluids/oils have to be changed, esp in regards to the gearbox system. Does the F1 system have separate hydraulic fluids from the gearbox itself? I know when and if I send the car to the service centre (they will advise me accordingly, but i thought i should be well informed before hand) thanks to all in advance who will be chiming in....
You say its been sitting quite a bit, is that 6 months or 6 years ? Contact someone who knows how to transport a Ferrari correctly. Take it to a Ferrari dealer or qualified Ferrari tech with the proper tools, an SD2 computer ect. The Ferrari 360 is a special beast and requires a Ferrari trained tech. To get the car into neutral pull both paddles at the same time.
about 2 years give or take. will be getting a carrier which will lower the entire carrier bit onto the ground whereby the car would only be pushed onto the carrier (as opposed to the usual ones which slides backwards and the car would need to be pulled/towed up the ramp) however i want to know if the towing bit in a 360. ie where are the points. does it need a hook like my 348? yes taking it to an auth. F-service centre. As I said earlier, i will be most likely properly advised once the car is there, but will like knowing beforehand from you guys on what are the parts/liquids which need to be changed. just trying to gain some knowledge here guys....thanks once again
Towing hook should be in the tool kit and screws into tapped hole in the drivers side front grille. F1 system is completely separate from the gearbox fluid and the reservoir is on the RHS of the engine bay by the rear lights. As mentioned -- get it to a dealer for a full service -- engine oil and filter, gearbox fluid (make sure they clean the gearbox screen that requires the rear bumper to be removed -- yes removed, thanks Ferrari, as most do not clean it). Steering fluid flush, brake fluid flush and engine coolant flush. The F1 fluid is not normally changed but I would request that it be done considering the car has sat for so long. Have them do a thorough visual inspection and have the clutch PIS set correctly and ask for a clutch wear percentage. You may want to consider changing the tires if they are worn and have been sitting for so long they probably have flat spots. Alan
Thanks a lot Alan....that's exactly the kind of reply i was looking for.....appreciate it a lot...there are more and more on F-chat to jump in to give negative comments, or to "teach" on how to use the search button or to chime in on how ugly or fugly a car looks like wrapped in gold but the ones to guide and teach are just a handful and perhaps getting less by the day.....cheers anyways mate...thanks again....will definitely look into all that you had mentioned.....
Have you pulled all the sticks to see the color of the fluids. Just saying I would take a look How many miles on the car and what is year ?
yes the fluids on the sticks look ok...even the engine oil looks ok.....but just worried about condensation as we live in a very very humid environment......perhaps the F1 hydraulics must be better changed right as per the advice of Alan above? how affected are hydraulic fluids with condensation? car's 2004....
