Don't take a silly joke too verbatim.

    Other than that I agree.

    +1

F3 races were always good value too with a decent supporting cast.

Do you know if the ballast added during the meeting then stays for the next meeting? Or is it 'reset'?

    Anyway, seems they've completely lost their marbles - Not just this nonsense about points, but check out article 28.4 of the new sporting regs;

As noted in the Pitpass story (appropriately titled 'WTF'), 'Confused? You will be!'

What a friggin' mess!..... I can see half the field starting from the pitlane by half way thru the season - Remember, they're restricted to just 5 power units next year as well.

    Cheers,
    Ian

How about points if your driver says the secret word during an interview? Too old school. How about points if you run over colored bubbles on the track?

Not a **** we'll be able to keep up with who has what penalty now. This is like watching the mathlympics.

It'll probably end up being that everyone replaces everything on the 11th race, so everyone starts 1 place down (will they then start before the parabolica? Who can see the start light? :D).

He says it was totally Bernie's idea and then the teams unanimously voted for it. But now he says it's not a good idea. Yeah, nobody likes Bernie anyway so staple it on him. Why didn't Ferrari veto it? He's saving that for "something that is more important and more deep for Formula 1." Translation: it would have resulted in a Bastille Day.

In real terms, double points at the last race means Ender Wiggin will win the WDC by 300 points next year instead of 155.

Speaking of SV aka Vanellope von Schweetz, Bernie very much reminds me of King Candy, so let's just do something like this for the last race. Now that drivers will have permanent numbers, we could also make them pick screen names with a dessert theme to draw in the tween female audience.

Bernie has also said it's either double points for the last 3 races or it'll never happen.

In other words, it'll never happen.

    I'm not going that far, but it certainly seem like it's going to happen. Bernie;

    :(

A terrible, terrible idea. One race, three races, it's all BS. I still can't believe they agreed to do it.

Yep. 90% of the fans around me had no idea what was going on. Looked killer though !

Dont know what a BOP is but if you mean the guy with the most money wins. Yep

Yep. Took a siesta from the "sport".

Dont know what a IMESHO is but your probably right.
I'd rather be dead ass last in a three car field at the Podunk FV regionals than front row center at F1 Monaco.

    Drink the Red Bull.

    Meh..

Tired of listening to people who talk of close competition ruining "their" sport.

It should not be double points for the last round, instead a driver should be able to choose which race he can use the double pioints on.

This would make the championship really interesting. A bit like how they used to be able to drop their worst result.

Surely they'll have to choose before the race then?

For the guys who it really matters to they'll still be on the same points otherwise.

Here's a crazy idea: Stick with what ****ing works. Same points for the whole season.

    Why?

The idea is you choose at the end of the season, though obviously if you win you will choose that race. Actually the old idea of dropping your worst result was superior.

I think returning to this would maintain competition for the WDC longer and make the season more interesting ... but Bernie does not care about the "sport" side, just the $'s

The idea of drooping one result was to compensate slightly for the fragility of the machines. If your car crapped out on you once your season wouldn't be compromised. It would make little sense today.

You berate Bernie for having no concern for the "sport" and then you suggest a manipulation to artificially maintain interest. Pot, meet kettle.

Because, the relevant bits where the drivers contending for the title have most likely both won a race each. They both pick their best, so the point different remains the same, thus rendering the whole exercise pointless.

If they choose before the race, and drop out, tough luck.

Hence they should keep it as normal points for all races.

Point taken ... the main and deadly serious suggestion I have which would return F1 to being a sport again is to ban sponsorship. Give it some serious thought. Yes it would be slower but the reason they race would be pure again.

Then we would have only 3 or 4 teams.

Mercedes can afford a F1 team. Peter Sauber can´t.
