sdbmwfxr and Sandy Eggo out for an early morning run. Good news: I have about 75 minutes of video. Bad news: I have about 75 minutes of video...so it'll be a few days before the edited final product is ready. Nothing like going into turns at 70mph and not being able to see. If the video is as fun as the drive was you all will be in for a treat; especially the audio from our engines and tires.
Tung and I did a back country run this morning. It was a beautiful day. We did get stuck behind a moving van for a few miles going down Highlands Valley Road which was hitting all the low hanging trees. Tung in his 360 spider got the leaves raining on him. Overall it was a fun run up through the hills, back down through Highland Valley, into Bandy Canyon and back via Elfin Forest. The great back roads and weather is one of the many reasons I love San Diego.
nice pics...like the go pro mounting, I need to get more mounting hardware (I have the helmet mount now).
Part 1 of the video is ready...please enjoy responsibly. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRbEPtNx4p8[/ame]
Two things I notice right off the bat - - Those roads really are twisty, love the rear view as it really shows it. Also, I thought I was going a lot faster than what it looks like, hahaha. Thanks for the vid, looking forward to part two. There was one section where I got out of the twists and floored it to redline and on the shift I got a nice pop out of the pipes!
Definitely invest in the GoPro suction mount if you don't already have it. For any other camera with a standard "tripod" mounting screw hole, look for Delkin suction mounts on Amazon. They are about $30 and work a treat. I guarantee that if we had had passengers they would have been holding on for dear life - and if they were our wives they would have been punching us in the shoulder to "slow-down!!!"
Wow! Great video,I love the video in the curves. Makes menwant to honing and find some twisty's. Thanks alot.
The driver of the red car needs to quit moving his left hand around on the steering wheel. Other than that, great vid.
Thanks, yes we are blessed with great roads here. Go find some twisties...today! It's me; I'll let him know. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Maybe part two will show my hands doing bad things as well. But I don't fancy myself an incredible driver by any means . . .
Excellent video Rick. Thanks for sharing your experience F-chat style. Now I can't wait to get my ride back. Ed
Hi Rick, I was surprised that the Flip HD mounted on the driver's side of your car did not pick up any wind noise. All I heard was beautiful, pure engine noise in the video. Did you use a remote microphone or clean up the audio during editing? Great vid! My favorite one so far.
Hi Greg, I go through a fairly painstaking process of matching up clean audio from the (windless) rear camera to the cams with the wind-noise. I'm sure there is an easier or better way to do it but so far this has been working for my purposes. Rick
