Nothing on earth is more 80s than MV — I’ve watched every episode— so doesn’t that disprove the theory that the 80s aesthetic is polarizing?

So, I quite recently (in May this year) bought my first 348, as my first Ferrari, so I think I'm reasonably qualified to comment on what draws me to the model.

    Did I buy 348 because it's fast?
-No, my bike is still faster and my previous BMW had clearly more power and I'm quite sure I would have gotten more speed with less money from somewhere else.

Did I buy any Ferrari available for or because of my neighbours?
-No, I bought the 348 for me and my fiancé.

Did I buy 348 because it's one of the cheapest Ferraris out there?
-No, and I'm not sure if it actually is one of the cheapest Ferrari models out there. It is one of the cheapest one to GET, but to my knowledge not to maintain.

Did I even think of other Ferraris?
-Yes, but both Testarossa and F40 have theier own minuses also. And yes, those minuses include both much higher price and maintain costs, they actually are out of my budget, but there's plenty of Ferraris between 348 and Testarossa price points, at least in here.

The why, why on Earth did I buy a 348?
-Because it's freaking awesome! To my eye as 80's child, 348TB is simply the most beautiful car ever rolled ot of factory line - it has every single piece of coolness that fits my eye in the same car. I've wanted one since I first saw one alive. And I definedly love the car. Besides the gorgeus looks I love the way it drives. There might be - and certainly is - cars that are better handling and/or faster on track or some other measurable results, but the 348 spirit is strong. Unassisted steering, gated manual, Ferrari flat-plane V8 roar, all the 80's vibes. In my 41 years of life, I still haven't found a car I'd want more than 348.The X-factor, which for me is the most important thing in car and what makes a car more than a car, is very, very high on the 348.

I agree exactly! The side strakes, the pop-up headlamps, the wedge shape, the grill over the tail lights, even the font in the instruments. All iconic stuff straight from my childhood time and I absolutely love all of those.

Totally agree. It was for sale a few years back, and I want to say it started above $100k but eventually was listed for $80k and sold. I loved that car.

Funny....I don't love them much. Way too big, somewhat truck-like. I kind of like the 512TR which is the best looking of the bunch. The Testarossa was sort of meh, and the 512M was an abomination. 512TR kind of nailed it, but I wouldn't say it's pretty or anywhere near my favorite. I think it's mostly to do with the number of strakes. The Testarossa/512TR has a couple too many strakes. The 348 looks fine....especially in a good color.

Guys, it was on my forum. On my post. About buying my first ever Ferrari, a 1984 Mondial. I was so happy to share the news with the FerrariChat community, and when I saw lusso250gt's comment, I am not ashamed to say there were tears in my eyes.

But I am a strong person, and I will get through this. Just like I am getting through cancer right now. If that can't take me down, neither can lusso250gt.

I LOVE the Mondials, the look with the top down... cmon its amazing. Many here have one as well. What he was was just a troll, he says the same thing in every forum. Including the newer model forum. The ONLY thing that matters is what you like. I have a friend with a 308, Testarossa and a 348. He likes older models. Equating means with the specific car is a false equality which is what he does, even with newer ones... there is ALWAYS something more pricy. Point is people like what they like, that's that. Ever sine the movie Weird Science I wanted a Mondial btw. Fabulous.

The trolls comments is not what the forum is about hope you have learned that. There is always some jealous troll here and there that wonders in. You really have to just laugh. He's probably eating peanut butte and jelly in his moms basement right now.

My only annoyance is they don't permanently ban him I searched his posts they are pretty much the same thing all over, he'll be back its a game.

Spend time on the forum, the help is astronomical from troubleshooting to rebuilds. Now go enjoy and let your forum know if you need help or have questions its ALL solvable.

The cheaper the Ferrari the bigger your dick. It’s an inverse relationship.

When the 348 came out it was faster than the vast majority of cars available and on the street.
Same with F355, 360, Countash, Diabalo,...

It is now beaten by a Toyota Camry.

Fast is now 3.6 seconds or less 0-60, BTW......

No Camry is faster than my 348. Perhaps quicker
off the line. *Maybe* to 60. But not faster. That’s a trope that needs to die.

    I agree 100%!!
I have a Toyota Blade, it has the 2GR-FE 3.5L V6, and it packs a punch, accelerates quite quickly to 60mph, but you can feel its a brick hitting the aerodynamic wall pretty quickly after that, the 348 doesn't do that, it just keeps going....
The Blade feels like a big heavy marshmallow to drive compared to the 348..lol....

For some people, 0-60 (or 0-100kph) means everything. For me (and probably most of us), there's soooo much more to car than one figure, especially one that I very, very rarely actually use. Besides, even if a Camry was faster after all, I'd still have soooo many reasons to choose the 348 on a roadtrip, track day or just a visit in grocery shop instead of a Camry.

For some reason (or actually many reasons) I don't have a Camry, but I do have 348.

Classic Ferrari is a Ferrari, how fast it is is not relevant, how good it looks is, how rare it is is. No one takes pics of it co stantly because its fast. They have no idea.
