I ate all I could over the holidays. I even went out and had a bacon cheeseburger and tater tots on Friday because I felt sick with a slight cold. I was 165.8 last Tuesday. Since then I ate and ate and ate. Now 163.5.

I am a whopping 12lbs PAST my goal of 175lbs. Remember I started at 227lbs in Oct of 2007 with a 42" waist. I'm a 31" waist now. I am hooked on cardio. Down 64lbs almost.

So, what do I do? Eat more? Knock out the cardio (maybe down to 15 min a day from 30?). I want to stay lean.

Ideas before tomorrow morning would help!!!!!

Do cardio for 5 instead of 7 days.

If you see yourself increasing in weight, change it.

I am doing weighwatchers and personal trainer and am down nearly 30lbs (started at 290, at around 260 now). Long way to go but I am headed in the right direction...

    Just eat more!

Knock down the cardio and replace that time with lifting.

    Congrats - that's awesome.

But what's up with everyone on this forum trying to lose weight. Are you guys women? Is anyone, other than myself, trying to gain weight?

You don't want to lose weight (unless you are obese). You want to lose fat (unless you are in the single digits for body fat percentage already).

To gain weight, you need to take in more calories than you burn. Simple as that. Your body is the energy store. Energy comes in in the form of food. Energy goes out in the form of effort expended doing things, from sleeping and eating to running and weight lifting. Food and exercise--vary these to find new equilibrium levels.

Your goal should be your highschool weight it terms of lean muscle mass unless you were underweight or over weight.

If you want to look buff and lean, increase the weights and decrease the sets. I would run 5 days not 7. Eating right is how you shape a lean body not by simply increasing calories. You need to eat a high protein diet(including vegies fruits) while drinking plenty of water, make sure you get some sodium with all that running. Muscle weights more than fat(stored calories) and burns more calories.

Just make sure what you're eating more of is lean.

Have 1.5 chicken breasts instead of just one. Double the salad, double the rest.

You're body is thanking you for taking care of itself, so it's sped up your metabolism. :)

    Congrats!

My HS weight was 138. NOT going there!!

I dropped down to 15 min cardio this morning (from 30 min). I will try and eat more, too.

My cardio was 4 days of 30 min on an elliptical. It was 4 days/30 min elliptical and then Saturdays, take a 15 mi bike ride. 3 weeks ago I stopped doing the bike ride. Now I am cutting back on the cardio on the elliptical.

    I like eating. LOL.

    Congrats,

I used to weigh 165 until I met my wife, Now I am at 200 as of this morning and she is demanding that I lose weight.

I have been starting and stopping for years, but she is starting to really annoy me about it.

I have to wonder if it is easier to lose 35 pounds, or just get rid of the 107 pounds the wife weighs.

Wow! Over a month of holiday cheer and you don't gain any weight...

Any changes to your work out routine since the OP?

I was 166 this morning. I am also sick and have been eating a ton. No surprise.

No real change in workout routine other than I'm sidelined until my cold wears off. :(

Back down to 163.4 this morning. Funny thing is I cannot tell how skinny I am. Everyone sees it but me.

Body fat was 10% last measurement (Monday).

If your wife is 107 pounds she sounds like a keeper. I would go the first route.

You gotta remember this isn't a body building forum. Losing weight makes more sense especially at an older age. (not saying I am not trying to gain or that I'm of an older age.)

Yes I agree! Ive been there a couple of times...I started on the 3rd of Jan from 211 and am down to 200 now, I just cut portion size and am riding the heck out of my mountain bike, 5 days a week and the gym 2days for weights, I have another 15 to go and by that time my legs should be in shape from carrying all this extra weight up and down the canyons and ill be in racing shape for summer..congrats to all that are getting in shape!
