Hello, all. I'm in the process of putting the interior back in a 1989 Mondial T cab. Just one of the many surprises the DPO (in my case, more like MFPO) left me is a switch hooked up under the dash. One end goes to chassis ground, the other end to a Bosch module behind the passenger side foot panel. It is marked Bosch 1 147 328 072. Google was no help. Does anyone know what this piece is, why the switch was there, and if I can get rid of it safely?

    Thanks
    Sam

Just guessing, or making a suggestion, but could it be some kind of ignition kill switch? It's possible that someone had rigged a switch to prevent theft by killing the ignition, preventing the car from being started. Other than that, I can't think of a reason to wire something like that in.

My bet would also be a hidden ignition disable switch. A reliable anti theft device.

I will check this number today. I recall seeing this in my 1989 Mondial t, but I cant recall what control it is. I know the suspension control (and suspension diagnostic plug) is right there next to it (as you can see), but I am drawing a blank on this other unit...

Let me have a moment to check.

    From the parts manual:
The large black plastic cased unit is the shock absorber ECU.
The metal cased unit is the A/C ECU.
The relay is the timer for the internal lights.

    Hope that helps.

The part number provided is for the climate control. (good call Lou)

Why the PO put a toggle switch on it is beyond me.
