Hi guys, I know there are a lot of Dr.'s and such here, so I have a pretty basic question. I was just at my G.P's office. He identified a couple of spots on me that he thinks may be Basal Cell ......he wants to cut them out next week. My question is, at this point, do you think I should go to a specialist/dermatologist and have them do it and such, or is a GP okay to do this and would they have all the knowledge and up to date techniques that I can put trust in?

Sorry, I'm just a little freaked out, and I have no knowledge or experience in this at all.

    thanks

Basal cells are a piece of cake. Once they are excised they should cause you no more problems. That being said I'd go to a qualified dermatologist. My dad had a spot removed from his nose a few years ago. No recurrent problems...it's just the big C word that freaks you out.

It's true these are not the WORST kind...but I have used a specialist, a dermo surgeon who actually is equipped to look via micro scope as tissue is removed, to know when to stop!

How would a GP be equipped for that?

A friend tried that simple approach with a melonoma tumor and lost the battle....Good Luck with it man....use sunscreen!

You only have one body, after all......
