It appears Robert O. and I will be going to the NHRA Nationals on Sunday at Pacific Raceways.

Nothing like the sound and fury of 6,000 HP engines to boil your blood.

At www.pacificraceways.com there is a short article about the new 660 foot concrete launch pads and resurfacing of the track. They are touting it as the fastest, flatest track west of the Mississippi.

300 MPH + runs all day!

    Should be interesting.............................

Sounds like fun Dana, if my wife and I weren't going to be out of town I'd love to join you two but making a trip south for the weekend....enjoy and if you're lucky, there may still be some ear plugs hanging from the tree! :)

Man, I've been wanting to go so badly but I have to work all weekend! I was actually up there last wednesday and we drove through the course just aweing at all the incredible cars that were out there. It's open gates for the first few days so you can just go in and drive around and look.

Didn't know about it being called the fastest track in the west but that's awesome! I can see why though... pretty low elevation, brand new resurface plus the concrete. I actually ran the track a month or so ago and it was pretty sticky!

Just a note to you drag racing fans.
Pacific Raceways has been restored to it's former glory. What was once a one lane drag strip is now a flat, straight, FAST track!
After it's complete resurfacing the track has an equal number of wins for both lanes in most categories.
A 300 MPH+ run used to be quite an event until today, I lost count after 12 runs in the 300 MPH+ range, the fastest was 321.083 MPH by Tony Schumacher in the US Army top fuel dragster, "Army of One".

Pro Stocks were breaking 200 MPH on a regular basis with the fastest at 205+ MPH.

Having been a fan since 1963 not many things astound me in the sport until today with the amazing performance and tight tight racing of these machines.

Seattle is again a track to contend with.
Now if they could find their way to resurface the road course, widening and reconfiguring a little it could be a world class track.

Man what a day! What a spectacle! (in more ways than one)
