The most improbably amazing thing happened this weekend. I got my dream 1987 328 GTS Red/Black. My high school graduation present , 22 years late. Having searched high and low for over a year, looking from Canada to California, I found it locally. The owner made the transaction go smoothly, even drove the car 1 hour to deliver and have it inspected at my local mechanic. I''ve been driving it all weekend and love it. None of this could have happened without the help of the member of Fchat. I learned so much here that, I became an educated shopper and knew exactly what to look for and weed out the crappy cars, of which there were many. So now, I look forward to finding time and good weather to get out and drive as much as possible. And I will ofcourse be here to get more info on maintaining my new girl. Pictures will follow soon.
CONGRATS!!!! I too, just picked up my own 308 and have been too busy driving it and such to post photos!!! Welcome to the club!! PDG
Awesome, brother! Speaking from experience, those late graduation-presents are the best. You've earned it.
It's a shame they don't hand you a set of keys when you walk across the stage as your getting your diploma isn't it? Congrats, enjoy and welcome.
I got my dream car last month (a 1988 328 GTS in rosso corsa / crema) so I know how it feels! Enjoy! Can you post some pics? In the UK, we don't see the same colour schemes on our Ferraris as our US cousins. We see predominantly rosso / crema here. Good luck with your new babe! Does she have a name yet? Ochosi
PICTURES PLEASE BassMan ! funny how your dream was the same as mine all those years ago ....welcome to the club and drive her in good health ! (p.s If you ever have the chance take her out on a race track and really drive her the way Enzo meant her to be driven)
Thanks everyone. It is the support of this community that helped me get throught the frutrations of searching and reach the joys of ownership. So . . . Here she is. Oh, by the way, the first thing I did was get rid of the G-d awful subwoofer in the passenger footwell. Congratulations!! I've dreamed about a 308/328 for 29 years and my dream came true three years ago. Still enjoy everytime I take her out as if it was the first time. It's always a special moment! The 328 is such a beautiful car ....
Congratulations Andrew! Even though you never got to come see the CLEARLY SUPERIOR car in Alabama (coincidentally mine ), I think you did swell. Hey, you really always wanted red, and things work out for a reason! Good thing my mechanic took 18 times longer to do the clutch than it would've taken a drunken, blind Yugo mechanic, or you'd have already come down here and gotten my car, driven blissfully back home to NY... only to find this red car for sale in your backyard later. Things do indeed work out. WHAT? A "bass" man who tosses out a subwoofer? Heresy. So are you going to mount it on the back glass now so it'll pound your eardrums? Kidding. A good move. Interestingly enough, my car has a discreet sub mounted under a hard panel in the footwell. So nicely disguised I didn't even see it until I took out the interior! Anyway, congrats on a great car. Have fun.
Very true Adams. If your mechanic only worked at a snails pace rather than glacial , I probably would have been driving your car for a couple of months now. And I'm sure loving every minute of it. I am taking inspiration from the work you did and while my interior is in good condition, I may even attempt light "freshening" this winter along with a couple odds and ends (i.e. trunk struts, couple of switch fixes, etc) As for the sub - my wife insist on having someplace to put her legs. The nerve
Hey, Congratulations. The 328 has been the car of my dreams for decades. Good luck with it! Sounds like you are off to a good start. I hope to own one one day.
