I am I the only poor soul doing a little work on a Saturday night? Of course, I'm also drinking a nice aged Chimay, listening to some Ahmad Jamal and smoking a Cohiba Lancero.
well, it's sunday afternoon here, but yeah i was werking last night, and put away a six-pack of stella too
Unfortunately, we just closed our first big client on Friday and I'm stuck about 400~ miles away from home without any tools. In a different circumstance, the 'work' part would be greater than the drinking and smoking going on tonight <sigh>. C.
I bet you're itching for some access to photoshop right about now. It's not pshop but maybe this etch & sketch will hold you over. http://www.etch-a-sketch.com/html/onlineetch.htm
I just goty home from a day at Great America, three hour drive home and I'll be up for two hours working and probably six hours tomorrow.
here i am again in my office tower in the CBD at 10pm on a saturday night i can hear all the drunken ferals out the window and can be glad i'm not out amongst that. dedication blows
Worked until at least 10 pm every night this week but one. Here today (Saturday). Will be here tomorrow, and probably every day until Labor Day. If the fall is shaping up to be just half as busy as it appears to be, I'll just move a cot in with me. 50 hour week seems like a vacation.
got home at nearly 1am, enough time to go through a few minutes of footage of our outback adventure and now have to call it a night to start again tomorrow...
Hmm...started work 9 a.m. Friday, just got home about an hour ago 1:15 pm Saturday. Database conversion & re-indexing. Fun stuff & it isn't even in my job description Just starting to drink (don't smoke) now to unwind & collapse for a while.
Crap...hasn't worked yet. Almost 8 hours later & I still have a few hundred tables, and thousands of keys burned into my retinas. I thought I left IT! When I finally crash out, I'll probably dream in LISP and at least become artificially intelligent
Aaaaah - first 2 day weekend in a month! I've been crunching numbers with my bare hands 6 days a week, y'see... I think we'll steal away to a hotel for a couple of nights to unwind 'n' stuff.
hot chicks and cold beer... oh, what do i get paid for? (well, the cold beer part is true ) systems development, databases, gis, younameit... at the moment toward the pointy end of a biiiiig project for public transport information, and the geniuses in charge decided last week to change about half the bus services, i tell them well in advance i need 2 weeks to upgrade their data for such a thing, the changes went into effect yesterday morning, i got the (mostly) complete dataset the night before. gonna be a LOT of complaints in about 3 hours when mister and mrs Jones are getting ready to earn a crust and find they have to adjust their schedule a few minutes or use a different bus stop....
LOL. Mr and Mrs Jones will just have to have a big bite of tough ****, I guess. Good work unscrewing what must've been a huge PITA. I'm having a swig for you....NOW. Dane P.S. And another...NOW.
Well, I'm about 1/2 the way through a 12 pack of Corona. (That covers drinking as it will be gone tonight) I'm working on preparing my liver for the onslaught it will be recieving on my B-day next weekend. (That covers work....right?) I also am smoking so I guess that covers all three. LOL
Crap, I always pride my self in being a "A" student. Does that mean I gotta break out the Patron Silver for extra credit?
No, pound what you have in hand, NOW. Then you'll have made your way up to at least a "D." That's passing. The rest is extra credit. Dane
LOL, I'm on it. P.S. DTV you have my dream job but the recruiter told me that my knee surgery would disqualify me for WOFT. (just when I was getting worked up to get my chance at hitting Fort Rucker I blew my minscus and ACL downhill mtn. biking) I hope you enjoy it as much as I would have and stay safe.
I'm very sorry to hear about your accident but remember some things happen for a reason. Flyin' and shootin's alot of fun but a ton of work and studying. Plus, being gone for a year's never a treat but well worth the trip. All in all, it's a great way to make a living. Thanks, Dane
