On Sunday, August 1st we will be doing a repeat of last year's scenic drive along the shoreline through the Windy City. We will be meeting from 9am to 9:30am on the East parking lot at the Science & Industry museum. From there we will drive north on LSD with some typical foto stops at the Planetarium and other locations. We will take the Scenic Route through Evanston, stop at the Bahai temple and end up at the Plaza de Lago in Wilmette for a brunch. This will be an official FOC drive of our region. Ferraris are preferred, but not a prerequisite. For planning purposes (especially for brunch) I'd like to see who is going to join us (no obligation). So let's start a list: Andreas
I'd like to go. My birthday is July 30th, so that would be a great weekend for me...Also, Andreas, see my post on the South Side drive/party. I'm going to come up with some specific details shortly.
Hi Andreas, That day looks good for me... If i get my car back by then... I am hoping i get it back for my trip up to the Air Base next week.. I didn't think the A/C was this difficult in these cars...
Sorry ladies and gentleman I can not make it. Sounds like a blast. I am Going to the New Jersey Shore. Wifes side of the family rented a beach house. They used to live in N.J and they would rent one every summer. Could be the last time for my inlaws.
BTW...Do you know if there are any events plannned Downtown for that day? (Walks. Runs. Bike Rides. Triathalons. Etc...along L.S.D.) You never know....
Current driver lineup: Andreas Sean 308 Dave 308 Tod 328 Frank 308 That's a good start and I'm sure we'll get some more.
I hope to be there. I just got a new (to me anyway) Maserati that I hope to drive for the tour. The details are here: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24420 Chuck King
Driver lineup: Andreas 308 Sean 308 Dave 308 Tod 328 Frank 308 Chuck Biturbo Skip 308 (I suppose?) Tod, you're right, the majority is non red, which is fine. Chuck, I can't wait to see your car. I got fairly close to getting a Biturbo myself this summer.
Next Sunday 9am at the Science & Industry museum Driver lineup: Andreas 308 Sean 308 Dave 512BBi Tod 328 Frank 308 Chuck Biturbo Skip 308 Mark Camaro Z28 12 cylinder award most likely going to Dave...
So a Hummer doesn't fit? Man 9am is too early for this suburb guy... I might be a late showing Andreas. Oh I will be there on time at 9am but physically not there on time. I will be acting as a groggy, looking for some coffee and a nap type of non confirming driver. I heard so many good things about this day. Hope all is well and that everyone had a good weekend. RocketBoy
Lemme ask you this... when driving on LSD can you really tell what direction is north ? Better ques is should you really be driving on LSD ? Sorry couldn't resist !! Hope the weather holds and you folks have a great drive ! Kenny K.
Actually there is a Chicago band who once had a local hit "Riding on LSD". They meant the drive, but it was definitely a double entendre. When you looked at their pic on the album it became even more obvious they didn't mean the drive at all...
Yes,if my "Fuzzy...." memory serves me correctly. I believe that the name of the band was "Alliota,Haynes, and Jeremiah" From way back in the early-mid '70's. The song was "Lake Shore Drive". Perhaps they did do alot of Drugs in the '70's....but,like others, don't care what the temperature is anymore...... ........kidding...........
You're right about the band's name. I knew you would know them. And LOL on the second part. Time to post that Alice Cooper pic again...
I will probably be coming from my girl friends house in Aurora, so i will have to leave about 7:30am. Which is real early for me too.... So, i may need a nap stop sometime??? Bring the Hummer, you can lead the way for us then...
Just to make this clear: We'll be gathering from 9am to 9:30am on the EAST side of the science & industry museum. That's in front of their Omnimax theater.
Familiar with the route, as I sail out of Wilmeete beach next to the plaza. Any catamaran sailors? When do we guess arrival?
